[25]
Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
[26] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of a music fence according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[27] As shown in the diagrams, the music fence according to one embodiment of the present invention includes a plurality of vertical bars 10 installed vertically in the ground apart from one another, a plurality of horizontal bars 20 installed horizontally and equidistant to each other along the vertical bars 10, a first fixing member for fixing the horizontal bars 20 to the vertical bars 10, a plurality of decorative plates 40 in a variety of musical note shapes installed on the horizontal bars 20, and a second fixing member for movably fixing the decorative plates 40 to the horizontal bars 20.
[28] The vertical bars 10 are hollow cylindrical pipes for supporting the horizontal bars
20, and a portion of the first fixing member passes through five sets of through-holes 10a formed in a vertical bar 10 at an equal vertical distance apart from one another.
[29] The horizontal bar 20 is a hollow cylindrical pipe for supporting the decorative plates 40, and forms a long hole 20a lengthwise at a predetermined location thereof for inserting an end of the first fixing member and a hook hole 20b separated a predetermined distance from the long hole 20a for an end of the first fixing member to hook into.
[30] As shown in Figs. 2 through 7, the first fixing member uses an anchor bolt 30 that has one end formed in a 'U' shape and a tip of its other end threaded in a screw shape.
[31] Using this anchor bolt 30, the horizontal bars 20 are fixed to the vertical bars 10 in the following procedure. First, referring to Fig. 3, the bent end of the anchor bolt 30 is inserted through the long hole 20a of the horizontal bar 20. Then, as shown in Fig. 4, the anchor bolt 30 is swiveled in the opposite direction, and is pulled in the direction of the arrow in Fig. 5 so that its end hooks into the hook hole 20b in the horizontal bar 20. Then, as shown in Fig. 6, the other end of the anchor bolt 30 is passed through the through-hole 10a in the vertical bar, after which a nut 31 is fastened thereon. Thus, the horizontal bars 20 are tightly fastened to the vertical bars 10.
[32] Fig. 7 is a sectional view showing an anchor bolt 30 used to couple the horizontal bar 20 to the vertical bar 10.
[33] The decorative plate 40 is formed in a variety of shapes for musical notes and symbols, to be installed on the horizontal bars 20. As shown in Fig. 1, a variety of such notes and symbols are formed and can freely be fixed vertically and to the left and right along the music fence using the second fixing member.
[34] The decorative plates 40 may be colored according to different notes and symbols - for example, 8 notes in an octave may each be painted in one of a rainbow of colors - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, navy, purple, and red. In this way, the music fence according to the present invention can be visually appealing and discernible from a distance.
[35] The second fixing member movably fixes the decorative plates 40 on the horizontal bars 20. As shown in Figs. 9 through 11, a guide rail 50 in a '
' shape is vertically installed on the rear surface of the decorative plate 40. A fixing holder 60, capable of sliding vertically in the guide rail 50, is installed therein, fixing the guide rail 50 to the horizontal bar 20.
[36] Here, the fixing holder 60 is formed of a first and a second holding plate 61 and 62 that wrap around and hold the horizontal bar 20.
[37] The first holding plate 61 includes a first holding portion 611 that is curved to follow the shape of the horizontal bar 20 and wraps around and holds one portion of the horizontal bar 20, a first horizontal portion 612 that extends horizontally from one end of the first holding portion 611 and has a long hole 612a laterally elongated for a bolt 63 to pass through, and a first protruding portion 613 that is formed to protrude from the left and right sides at the end of the first horizontal portion 612 to insert and be able to slide within the guide rail 50.
[38] Here, the span from one end to the other of the first protruding portion 613 is formed to be narrower than the span between the inner side walls of the guide rail 50, so that the first holding plate 61 can oscillate a predetermined distance laterally within the guide rail 50.
[39] The second holding plate 62 includes a second holding portion 621 that is curved to follow the shape of the horizontal bar 20 and wraps around and holds the other end of the horizontal bar 20, a second horizontal portion 622 that extends horizontally from one end of the second holding portion 621 to contact the surface of the first horizontal portion 612 and has a threaded fixing hole 622a in which the end of the bolt 63 that passed through the long hole 612a is screwed and fastened, and a second protruding portion 623 that is formed to protrude from the left and right sides at the end of the second horizontal portion 622 to insert and be able to slide within the guide rail 50.
[40] Here as well, the span from one end to the other of the second protruding portion
623 is formed to be narrower than the span between the inner side walls of the guide rail 50, so that the second holding plate 62 can oscillate a predetermined distance laterally within the guide rail 50.
[41] The mutually contacting first and second horizontal portions 612 and 622 have contacting surfaces 612b and 622b that are inclined in opposition. As shown in Fig. 12, with the first and second holding portions 611 and 621 wrapped around the horizontal bar 20, when the bolt 63 is tightened, the inclined surfaces of the first and second horizontal portions 612 and 622 slide apart from one another, so that the first and second holding portions 611 and 621 fasten firmly to the horizontal bar 20; and at the same time, the first and second protruding portions 613 and 623 press against the inner side walls of the rail 50 to firmly fix the decorative plate 40 to the fixing holder 60.
[42] A detailed description of the installation process of the above-described music fence according to an embodiment of the present invention will now be given.
[43] First, a plurality of vertical bars 10 are installed in the ground at a predetermined distance apart from one another, and the first fixing member is used to horizontally install five horizontal bars 20 on the vertical bars 10 at an even interval from one another.
[44] Here, in order to fix a horizontal bar 20 to a vertical bar 10, the bent end of an anchor bolt 30 is inserted into a long hole 20a of the horizontal bar 20, and the anchor bolt 30 is pulled after being swiveled in the opposite direction so that the end of the bent section of the anchor bolt 30 hooks into the hook hole 20b of the horizontal bar 20. Subsequently, the other end of the anchor bolt 30 is passed through a pair of through-holes 10a of the vertical bar 10, and a nut 31 is used to firmly fasten the horizontal bar 20 to the vertical bar 10.
[45] In this way, the horizontal bars 20 can be fixed to the vertical bars 10, after which the second fixing member is used to arrange decorative plates 40 formed in the shapes of various notes and symbols onto the five horizontal bars 20 in an arrangement depicting a suitable piece of music.
[46] Here, in order to fix a decorative plate 40 on a horizontal bar 20, the protruding portions 613 and 623 of the first and second holding plates 61 and 62 are inserted into the guide rail 50 attached to the rear surface of the decorative plate 40, and the horizontal bar 20 is enclosed with the holding portions 611 and 622. Then, a bolt 63 is passed through the long hole 612a formed in the first horizontal portion 612 of the first holding plate 61, after which the bolt 63 is screwed firmly into the fixing hole 622a formed in the second horizontal portion 622 of the second holding plate 62.
[47] In this process, when the bolt 63 is firmly tightened, the first and second holding plates 61 and 62 that were contactingly aligned slide apart from one another along the oppositely inclined contacting surfaces formed on the bottom of the horizontal portions 612 and 622. Thus, the first and second holding plates 61 and 62 are firmly fixed to the horizontal bar 20, and the protruding portions 613 and 623 of the first and second holding plates 61 and 62 respectively press against either inner side wall of the guide rail 50 so that the decorative plate 40 is firmly fixed to the fixing holder 60.
[48] In order to move the decorative plate 40 horizontally along the same horizontal bar
20, the firmly tightened bolts 63 can be slightly loosened and the fixing holder 60 can be pushed to move the decorative plate 40, after which the bolts 63 can be tightened. To move the decorative plate 40 to another horizontal bar 20, the bolts 63 must be completely unscrewed to remove the fixing holder 60, after which the decorative plate 40 may be relocated.
[49] While the music fence according to the present invention has been described and illustrated herein with reference to the preferred embodiments thereof, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Thus, it is intended that the present invention covers the modifications and variations of this invention that come within the scope of the appended claims and their equivalents.
[50]
Industrial Applicability
[51] As described above, the music fence according to the present invention, when installed in the form of a musical score with music appropriately selected to match its location, not only beautifies the cityscape, but also exemplifies the characteristics of the location at which it is installed in musical terms. Also, not only aural, but visual music can enhance people's emotional facets.
[52] Also the music fence according to the present invention uses decorative musical notes painted in different colors (i.e., rainbow colors) by note type, that not only provides the fence with beauty, but also allows the notes on it to be discerned easily from a distance.
[53] Furthermore, the horizontal bars and the decorative plates can be easily installed using the first and second fixing members, so that the installing process is easier and installation cost can be reduced. Using the second fixing members, the decorative plates in the form of musical notes and symbols can be freely relocated.
