Abstract

A method for improving a data rate of a PMTD data communication system consists of the following steps. First a sequence of test signals is transmitted to a destination. Each test signal consists of a pair of test transmit signal, where each pair in the sequence has a different phase difference between the two test transmit signals. Then a reception quality parameter is obtained from the destination for each of the test signals. Finally, the reception quality parameters are used to determine the required phase difference for a pair of data transmit signals, such that both data transmit signals arrive at the destination in phase.
