Abstract
The present invention relates to transplastomic plant cells and plants, wherein the genetic modification leads to the expression in plastids of such plants cells and plants of a recombinant αl -antitrypsin. Furthermore, the present invention relates to methods for the manufacture of such plants and to method for producing αl -antitrypsin from such plants. The present invention also relates to chimeric genes encoding αl -antitrypsin.
