Abstract
Systems and methods are provided for creating a new CAD model from geometrical data corresponding to at least one region of interest of a real object (RROI), or for altering an original CAD model with respect to a real object, the real object having at least one region of interest (RROI) associated therewith generally corresponding to at least one virtual region of interest (VROI) of the original CAD model. According to aspects of the invention, an original CAD model is provided, including at least one virtual region of interest (VROI) generally corresponding to the or each said RROI, and geometric data (GD) corresponding to the or each said RROI is also provided. The geometric data of each RROI is appropriately aligned with respect to each corresponding VROI, and for each pair of RROI and VROI thus aligned, deviations between the RROI and the corresponding VROI are determined. A new CAD model may be created, or the original CAD model may be updated, by modifying each VROI according to the deviations determined to create a corresponding updated VROI.
