Abstract

The invention provides novel enzymes, and the polynucleotides encoding them, involved in carotenoid, astaxanthin and isoprenoid synthesis. The invention also provides novel carotenoid, astaxanthin and isoprenoid biosynthetic pathways comprising at least one enzyme of the invention. The invention also provides novel methods for making carotenoids, astaxanthins and isoprenoids and related compounds using enzymes of the invention. Thus, the invention provides methods for making compounds useful for food and feed supplements, colorants, neutraceuticals, cosmetic and pharmaceutical needs.
