Definitions
- Optical multiplexer / demultiplexer manufacturing method thereof, and optical multiplexer / demultiplexer module
- the present invention relates to an optical signal power including light of a plurality of wavelengths.
- the optical signal of each wavelength is demultiplexed and extracted, or the light of a plurality of wavelengths is combined to create an optical signal including light of a plurality of wavelengths.
- the present invention relates to an optical multiplexer / demultiplexer that can be used and a manufacturing method thereof.
- the present invention relates to an optical multiplexing / demultiplexing module using the optical multiplexer / demultiplexer.
- FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view showing the structure of a conventional optical multiplexing / demultiplexing module disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 10-268157 (Patent Document 1).
- a lens holder 12 holding an aspheric lens 14 is sandwiched between spacers 11 and 13 to form an optical unit 15, and a lens holder 17 holding an aspheric lens 19 is attached.
- the optical unit 20 is formed by being sandwiched between the spacers 16 and 18.
- the optical unit 15 and the optical unit 20 are accommodated in a cylindrical body 22 with a filter 21 in between.
- a demultiplexing module 201 is configured.
- the optical signal having the wavelength ⁇ 1 input from the input optical fiber 25 is reflected by the filter 21 and the optical signal having the wavelength ⁇ 2 emitted from the light emitting element 23 is reflected.
- Pass through filter 21, superimpose optical signal of wavelength ⁇ 1 and optical signal of wavelength ⁇ 2, and output from output optical fiber 26! /.
- the lens monorenders 12, 17 holding the aspherical lenses 14, 19, the finoreta 21, and the spacers 11, 13, 16, 18 are inserted into the cylindrical body 22.
- the center axes of the aspherical lenses 14 and 19 are aligned with each other, and the distance between the aspherical lenses 14 and 19 and the filter 21 is determined by the length of the lens holders 12 and 17 and spacers 13 and 16. It keeps in.
- the light emitting element 23 and the fiber array 27 are moved in the horizontal direction to emit the light emitting element 23 and the fiber array 27. Adjust the optical axis.
- the individual parts are manufactured separately, so the individual lens holders 12, 17 spacers 11, 13, 16, 18, etc. Dimensional variations are likely to occur in these parts. Further, since the aspheric lenses 14 and 19 are merely fitted with the edges in the annular lens holders 12 and 17, the positions and angles of the aspheric lenses 14 and 19 held in the lens holders 12 and 17 are set. Are likely to vary. Further, since the filter 21 is only sandwiched between the spacers 13 and 16, the angle is easily inclined from an angle perpendicular to the central axis of the aspherical lenses 14 and 19.
- the optical axes of the multiplexing / demultiplexing modules 201 are adjusted one by one so that the positions of the light emitting elements 23 and the fiber array 27 are powered and the output from the output optical fiber 26 is maximized, the optical coupling is performed. There was a limit in achieving uniform characteristics of the demultiplexing module 201. Further, if these variations are minimized and the characteristics of the optical multiplexing / demultiplexing module 201 are made uniform, the manufacturing accuracy of each component must be made very high, resulting in a high manufacturing cost.
- Patent Document 1 Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 10-268157
- the present invention has been made in view of the technical problems as described above, and an object of the present invention is to form a lens and a filter integrally so that the parallelism of the lens and the filter can be reduced. It is an object of the present invention to provide an optical multiplexer / demultiplexer and an optical multiplexer / demultiplexer module that can improve the accuracy of the above and suppress variations in characteristics. Another object of the present invention is to provide a method of manufacturing an optical multiplexer / demultiplexer capable of efficiently performing adjustment work collectively.
- a filter portion is provided on one surface of a transparent support plate, and a lens is integrally formed on the surface of the support plate opposite to the filter portion.
- a transparent spacer is bonded to the support plate with the lens interposed therebetween.
- This optical multiplexer / demultiplexer is, for example, the optical multiplexer / demultiplexer of the embodiment shown in FIG.
- the filter portion is provided on one of the support plates and the lens is formed on the other, so that the distance and parallelism between the lens and the filter portion are reduced. It can be obtained with high accuracy. Therefore, alignment work with a fiber array or the like connected to the optical multiplexer / demultiplexer can be easily performed. Further, the optical fiber and the lens can be held at a predetermined distance by bringing the optical fiber, the light emitting element, and the light receiving element into contact with the outer surface of the spacer.
- a lens different from the lens is disposed on the outer surface of the filter section.
- the light transmitted through the filter can be collected by another lens, and the coupling efficiency with the optical fiber, the light emitting element, and the light receiving element can be improved.
- This embodiment is, for example, the optical multiplexer / demultiplexer of the embodiment shown in FIG. 26 or FIG.
- the second optical multiplexer / demultiplexer of the present invention a filter part is sandwiched between a pair of transparent support plates, and lenses are integrally formed on the surface of each support plate opposite to the filter part. A transparent spacer is joined to each of the support plates with the lenses interposed therebetween.
- This optical multiplexer / demultiplexer is, for example, the optical multiplexer / demultiplexer of the embodiment shown in FIG.
- the lenses are formed on the other surfaces of the pair of support plates sandwiching the filter portion, respectively. Or accuracy such as distance between lenses and parallelism of the central axis can be improved.
- the optical fiber and the lens can be held at a predetermined distance by bringing the optical fiber, the light emitting element, and the light receiving element into contact with the outer surface of the spacer. Therefore, alignment work with a fiber array or the like connected to the optical multiplexer / demultiplexer can be easily performed.
- the support plate is provided with a protrusion that protrudes higher than the thickness of the lens.
- the spacer is held on the support plate at a constant distance by contacting the protrusion with the spacer. Can be joined.
- the protrusion Since the spacer is bonded to the support plate with the lens in between, the protrusion Since the spacer and the support plate are kept at a fixed distance when hitting the spacer, it is possible to protect the lens by preventing the lens and the spacer from coming into contact with each other.
- the protrusion is formed around the lens so as to surround the lens, and the lens is surrounded by the support plate, the protrusion, and the spacer. Hope to be sealed inside! / If the lens is sealed by surrounding the lens with the protrusion, it is possible to prevent the lens from forming condensation or dust and improve the moisture resistance and dust resistance of the optical multiplexer / demultiplexer.
- the first or second optical multiplexer / demultiplexer of the present invention is characterized in that the lenses are lenses having the same shape. According to a powerful embodiment, the incident light passes through the former lens when it passes through a location off the central axis of the lens and exits through a location off the central axis of another lens. The deformed beam cross section can be corrected by the latter lens.
- the central axes of the lenses in the above-described embodiments are shifted from each other. It is particularly preferable that the center axis of the lens is shifted according to the difference in distance from the filter of both lenses. In other words, by shifting the two lenses from each other, the light incident position of the light incident side lens and the light output position of the light exit side lens are in the same region in the lens, so Equivalent beam cross section can be obtained.
- a plurality of lenses are provided in a plane substantially parallel to the filter unit, corresponding to the filter unit.
