Abstract

A fastening device (2) for a wristband and a wristband incorporating the fastening device (2). The wristband is preferably made from a fabric material and has an intricate pattern woven or sewn into it. The wristband (1) is used to assist with crowd control, particularly at large concerts or sporting events. The wristband material (3) is cut in order to remove the wristband (1). The fastening device (2) comprises a channel (31) containing a spike (23), which pierces the wristband material (3) and prevents it from moving one way through the channel (31) but allows it to move the other way. Preferably, an entrance portion (32) and exit portion (33) of the channel (31) are misaligned and the spike (23) projects into the channel (31) at the point of misalignment. The spike (23) may be a metal pin and the fastening device (2) may include two spikes. The fastening device (2) may be brightly coloured or luminous.
