Description

FUNDA PROTECTORA PARA ENCENDEDORES LIGHT PROTECTIVE COVER
CAMPO TÉCNICO DE LA INVENCIÓNTECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a protective cover for lighters or lighters, especially for use and throw lighters (i.e., for example, for gas lighters that, once empty, are not refilled but are thrown away). These types of lighters usually have a simple and cheap structure and there may be an interest in housing them in some type of case, for example, to protect them and also for aesthetic reasons.
ANTECEDENTES DE LA INVENCIÓNBACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
There are a large number of different types of protective covers for lighters. Some protective covers consist merely of a tubular, rubber, plastic or similar element, with one end open and one closed. The lighter is inserted through the open end, so that most of the lighter is housed and fitted inside the case, peeping through the open end of the case, only the end of the lighter corresponding to the gas outlet and the means to generate the spark for its ignition. In this way, the main body of the lighter (for example, the plastic body of a typical lighter to use and throw away) is protected and hidden from the user, while the user has access to the part that generates the spark already the gas outlet, where the flame is produced. In this way, the user can manipulate the lighter in a normal way, but instead of seeing and holding the lighter body, go and hold the case.
There are also more complex covers, for example, of the type described in WO-A-96/28695. This cover comprises a tubular body, whose empty interior has a shape and dimensions corresponding to the type of lighter body to which the cover is intended, so that the lighter body can be more or less tightly accommodated in the tubular body of the case. In addition, the cover comprises an articulated lid at the open end of the tubular body, so that the lid can pivot between an open position - in which the user has access to the end of the lighter that appears through the open end of the tubular body - and a closed position in which the cover covers said end of the lighter, protecting it.
.Normally, these covers serve to expose advertising and / or to offer an attractive appearance, from an aesthetic point of view, while they can be used to physically protect the lighter (against impacts, dirt, etc.).
Many of the lighter covers that are known are made of a single material, often in plastic or rubber, although metal covers are also known (for example, formed by tubular elements of aluminum or the like).
However, in order to make such covers more attractive to users and / or to improve their ergonomic characteristics, it may be desirable to provide them with an external surface that has zones of different materials, for example, a surface that is mostly of metal or metallized (something offered by ^ -un --- aspeeto - attractive - and-_ solid) _ pe.rp ___ que_, _ in some parts, present one or more areas of another material and, therefore, with another aspect, with another coefficient of friction, etc. For example, it may be desirable that part of the surface of the protective sheath is made of rubber, since it offers a pleasant feel, a high coefficient of friction, etc.
Logically, using different materials makes the manufacturing process more complex. There are materials that can be joined in processes of the "double injection" type, for example, it is possible to manufacture, in molds and with "double injection" processes pieces that combine two materials, usually a hard plastic (thermoplastic) and a softer plastic (elastornero), so that the final result is characterized by the union of the two materials of different properties and / or finishes in a single indivisible piece. However, there are other materials that cannot be joined in this way, or whose joint is complex and / or expensive and / or of poor quality (susceptible to breaking when subjected to stress); For example, it is difficult to achieve "a good direct bond between rubber and metal in this type of injection process.
Therefore, it has been considered that there is a need to provide a lighter structure for lighters that allows the case to be made in two or more materials that are not necessarily easy to join in injection processes, so that lighter sleeves can be produced whose surface present, for example, one or more rubber zones and one or more metal zones.
DESCRIPCIÓN DE LA INVENCIÓNDESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The invention -se-xe-f-iere - a_una — protective cover for lighters, comprising a first element manufactured, at least partially, in a first material (for example, in metal or in a metal alloy).
The first element and the second element are configured such that, the second element being introduced in the first element: said first element and second element constitute a substantially tubular sheath body defining an interior space that ends at an open end of said body of cover, so that the body of a lighter can be introduced by said open end and housed in said interior space; Y
- dicho cuerpo de funda presenta una superficie externa que tiene al menos una primera zona que corresponde a una superficie externa del primer elemento y, al menos, una segunda zona que corresponde a una superficie externa del segundo elemento, siendo dicha primera zona del primer material y siendo dicha segunda zona del segundo material.- said sheath body has an external surface that has at least a first area that corresponds to an external surface of the first element and, at least, a second area that corresponds to an external surface of the second element, said first area of the first material being and said second zone of the second material being.
In this way, a simple lighter sheath can be achieved whose outer surface (which the user normally sees and touches when handling the sheath) can have areas of different materials, including materials difficult to join in the injection processes or the like They are usually used to produce the components for this type of covers.
The- second - zone - may - correspond_a, ___ for example, a vertical section of the surface of the sheath body, for example, to the section on which the user rests the fingers (minus the thumb) when using the lighter. In this way, the fingers can rest on a surface with different touch characteristics to those of the first material, for example, on rubber or other pleasant touch material and high coefficient of friction. Likewise, the second zone may encompass the closed ("lower") end of the sheath body, in which the second material (eg rubber) can exert a damping effect when said sheath end rests on a surface (by example, on a table). On the other hand, the metal zone can correspond, for example, to the greater part of the larger lateral surfaces of the sheath, to provide it with a general metallic appearance and of good quality.
The second element may be a "composite" element and comprise parts of different materials, for example, a first part having coupling means for coupling to the first element as the second element introduced into the first element (so that this first part must be of a suitable material to define this type of coupling means - such as projections, grooves, etc. - for example, it can be made of plastic), and a second part corresponding to the second area of the external surface of the body of cover (for which you can choose a material that looks or feels pleasant to the user). That is, the first part of the second element may be of a material (a "third material") other than the second material, the second part of said second material being. For example, if the first material (that of the first element) is a metal (or a matter-1 —— r-eeubi-erto — with - metal) -, —_ el. _secjund_o__ material can be some type of rubber (pleasant to the touch, - S -
Contrary to what happens with the combination of rubber and metal, it is easy to join a plastic part and another rubber part during an injection process ("double injection"). In this way, the invention allows covers to be obtained with surfaces, for example, of metal and rubber, without having to bond the metal with the rubber, and using the plastic part to mechanically join the rubber parts to the metal parts
That is, the first material can be a metal or an alloy of metals, for example aluminum or zinc alloys, while the second material can be an elastomer (for example, rubber, silicone ...) and the third material a thermoplastic .
The first part of the second element may have a general tubular configuration, the coupling means comprising one, two or more transverse projections with respect to said tubular configuration, said transverse projections being configured so that, being the second element introduced into the first element to a hooking position, said transverse projections engage in corresponding retention structures (for example, grooves or notches) provided in the first element. Initially, due to the flexible nature of the material, this retention may not be as "strong" as desired, in which case it can be completed with more coupling elements and / or with blocking elements; Other types of coupling or retaining elements -— that may — serve, as alternatives ^ or complements to the projections described above, will be mentioned below. couple the first element and the second element to each other, in an ideal way.
A first of the transverse projections may be located in correspondence with a first end of the second element so that when the second element reaches said engagement position, said first of the transverse projections is located in correspondence with the open end of the sheath body . On the other hand, a second of said transverse projections may be located in the second element axially displaced with respect to the first of said projections and radially opposite to the first of said projections.
Alternativa o complementariamente, la primera parte del segundo elemento puede estar dotada de una o más parejas de nervios que se extienden en dirección axialAlternatively or in addition, the first part of the second element may be provided with one or more pairs of ribs extending in the axial direction
(por ejemplo, de dos parejas de nervios, situadas externamente en paredes opuestas de dicha segunda parte) ; y el primer elemento puede estar dotado internamente con un resalte para cada una de dichas parejas de nervios .(for example, of two pairs of nerves, located externally on opposite walls of said second part); and the first element may be internally provided with a protrusion for each of said pairs of nerves.
Then, the ribs and ribs may be configured so that when the second element is inserted into the first "element (" telescopically "in the axial direction of the ribs / ribs), the ribs enter between the corresponding ribs so that serve as a guide for the second element during the introduction of the second element into the first element (and, with a suitable configuration, to prevent radial movements of the second element within the first element).
The - cover - can -, in addition, comprise a cover coupled to the first pivotable element (by for example, with some type of hinge and with a spring that pushes the lid towards a certain position, for example, towards its open position), corresponding to the open end of the sheath body, so that said lid can be pivoted between a closed position, in which said open end of the sheath body covers, and an open position, in which said open end of the sheath body does not cover. It may be convenient to allow a wide movement of the lid, for example, a 135 degree turn, to prevent the lid from being above the lighter flame during use thereof.
In addition, the sheath may comprise a push-button element configured so that, when coupled to the sheath body, it is movable between: a locked position in which, with the lid in its closed position, it engages with the lid preventing it from being displaced towards its open position (for example, by the force exerted by the spring mentioned above); and a non-blocking position in which it does not engage with the lid, allowing it to be displaced (eg, by the spring) from its closed position to its open position. The push-button element can be configured to be coupled to the first element and provided with retaining means of the second element so that once the cover is mounted, that is, with the second element inserted in the first element and with the button connected to the First element, the second element is blocked by said retaining means so that the second element cannot be removed with-respect-to-the first element. . From, _e_s.ta .. mane_ra_ you get a cover consisting of elements not easily - in ¬
separables, a la vez que no se usa un número excesivo de elementos independientes para lograr esta finalidad.separable, while not using an excessive number of independent elements to achieve this purpose.
The second element may be provided with a blocking projection configured so that, when the second element is inserted in the first element and with the button coupled to the first element, said blocking projection supports said retention means, preventing the Second element is removed with respect to the first element (getting the components to fit so that they are retained can be easy, choosing appropriate shapes and dimensions for the projections, etc., depending on the materials used).
The first element may have a first end in correspondence with the open end of the sheath body, and a second end opposite to said first end, with said second end open to allow the introduction of the second element through said second end. In this case, the second element may have a closed end in which the second material (rubber, etc.) is configured to stop (or almost stop) against the second end of the first element, when the second element is inserted into the First item By choosing the dimensions properly, an external surface is achieved in which the rubber parts and the metal parts, in their transition zones between one material and another, are at the same level, contributing to a pleasant aesthetic.
The second element may have, opposite or radially opposite, two openings that define fins configured to be pressed inwards, by coming into contact with the inner walls of the " first " element - (- for --- example -, - with corresponding internal highlights of the first element) when the second element is introduced into the first element (for example, the fins can come into contact with the same projections as mentioned above; for example, the upper parts of said projections can press the fins and the lower parts of the projections they can do the guiding function between the nerves of the second element). The fins, pressed inwards, can be used to exert pressure on the lighter that is inserted into the case. The second element may have, at an opposite end to the open end of the sheath body, at least two protuberances intended to embrace the lower ("closed") end of the lighter that is inserted into the sheath. The first element may have, in correspondence with the open end of the sheath body, one or more protrusions configured to push the lighter radially, to establish a minimum distance between the lighter and the wall of the first element in correspondence with said or said protuberances, this to avoid excessive heating of the area; basically, the bumps would press on the lighter in an area near the gas outlet point, - to move the lighter away from the wall (which may be metallic) of the sheath. The lighter plate can reach a very high temperature and if it is in direct contact with a metal part of the sheath, it would become very hot due to heat transmission. The protrusions leave a small distance that acts as an insulating air chamber, largely avoiding heat transfer from the lighter to the case. In the " holster or s — that — carry — a — coupled cover _al__c: uerpo_mediante a hinge, the bumps may be located in correspondence with said hinge.

REALIZACIÓN PREFERENTE DE LA INVENCIÓNPREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
Figure 1 shows a view of the main components (in assembly position) of a protective sheath according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, comprising a sheath body consisting of a first element 1 and a second element 2. The The first element can be made of metal (for example, -of-an ---- alloy - of aluminum. and / or _zincj_ or, at least, have a metal or metallic surface. Second element 2, which may have been manufactured in a "double injection" process, may comprise a first part 21 of plastic (which allows to achieve projections -211, 212, 214- and other coupling elements - such as the nerve pair 213 - well defined and with adequate stiffness / flexibility), manufactured in a first injection stage, and a second part 22 of another material, for example, of rubber, deposited on the first part in a second injection stage. Figure 1 also reflects how the cover comprises a cover 4 attached to the case body (specifically, the first element 1) pivotably, by means of a hinge system comprising a hole 41 in a projecting part of the rear part of the cover 4, projections 17 with holes provided in the upper end of the first element 1, and a pin element 18 which acts as an axis. The hinged system may comprise a spring 19 (see Figure 3) to exert a force on the lid, pushing it into its open position (in which it does not cover the open end 6 of the sheath body). Figure 1 also schematically reflects the push-button element 3 which, depending on the position of the push-button element 3 (that is, depending on whether the user is exerting a force or not on the push-button element), blocks the lid in its closed position and release the lid from its closed position, respectively. This is achieved by a small protrusion 32 on the push-button element which, with the lid in the closed position and when the user does not exert pressure on the push-button element, enters a hole 42 of the lid and retains it in its closed position, against of the force-exerted-by the spring__ 19 .. The cover also has a hole 43 in its upper part, which can be used to introduce a rope or chain, whereby the user can hang the neck cover, for example. In figure 2 the cover can be seen with the components illustrated in figure 1 properly assembled (for example, with the second element 2 already inserted in the first element 1, up to a hook or stop position). It can be seen how the surface of the sheath body has zones IA in which the surface is of the material of the first element (in this case, of metal) and zones 2A in which the surface is of the material of the second part 22 of the second element 2, that is, in this case, rubber. The plastic parts (corresponding to the first part 21 of the second element) are not seen in this assembled configuration of the sheath. Because the dimensions are such that the rubber part 22 protrudes with respect to the plastic part (see transition zones 22A in Figure 1), and these dimensions having been properly adjusted according to the thickness of the metal of the first element 1 , it is achieved, in the mounted case, transition zones between metal and rubber without steps, something positive, at least from an aesthetic point of view.
Figure 3 is a more detailed perspective view of the sheath components. It can be seen how the first part 21 (of plastic) of the second element 2 (to which the second part 22 of said second element is attached) is provided with a series of elements that serve for a suitable coupling between the second element 2 and the first element 1 (namely, - an attachment - firm. and_. easy __to perform by entering the second element into the first element). First, the first part - generally tubular - of the second element has two transverse projections, including a first transverse projection 211 located at a first end ("upper end") of the second element. As can be seen in Figure 4, which reflects the sheath once the second element 2 has been completely introduced - up to its engagement position - in the first element 1, said first projection 211 is located in correspondence with the end open 6 of the sheath body, resting on a corresponding retention structure 111 of the first element 1. In addition, in figure 4 it can be seen as a second transverse projection 212 (see also figure 3), located in the second part 21 of the second element 2 axially offset with respect to the first projection 211 and radially opposite to said first projection 211, engages in a corresponding retaining structure 112 of the first element 1. The projections 211 and 212 are located in correspondence with sections 211A and 212A of the first part 21 configured to allow the projections to move "inwards" when abutting the corresponding parts of the prim er element 1 during the introduction of the second element 2. The exact shape and dimensions of these sections can be chosen depending on the materials used, to achieve adequate flexibility to allow easy introduction and, at the same time, adequate retention force between the elements
In order to facilitate a correct introduction of the second element in the first element and a firπvey coupling "" without-game and-between-both-elements, the first part 21 of the second element 2 is provided, in each of its outer major faces, of a pair of ribs 213 extending in an axial direction from a position close to a second end ("lower end") of the second element. Each pair of ribs 213 defines a "channel" in which, when the second element is introduced in the first element, a projection 113 provided in the corresponding inner face of the first element 1 is introduced; said projection 113, an "upper" part of which is visible in figure 3, has a width that, at least in its lower part (which will be introduced into the channel between the projections 213), decreases in the direction towards " down ", that is, towards the second end 12 of the first element. In this way, with projections 113 whose width decreases downwards, it is easy to get said projections to enter the channels established by the ribs 213, and it can be achieved that, once the second element reaches its hooking position (which It is seen in FIG. 4), the projections 113 are firmly tightened between the corresponding ribs 213, thereby avoiding lateral play between the first element 1 and the second element 2, in correspondence with the second ends of these elements.
The cover 4 is coupled at a first end 11 (Figure 3) of the first element 1, pivotally through a hinge system (17, 18, 41) that includes a spring 19, wound around the pin 18 which acts as a pivot shaft for the lid. The spring is configured to exert a force on the lid so that it drives it from its closed position (in which it is in Figure 4) to its open position.
42 of the lid when the lid is in its closed position. At its other end, the pressing element ends in an extension 33 which, in the assembly of the sheath, is introduced into a channel 13 provided in the lower part of a recess 13A in the first body 1 (Figure 3). The push-button element has a certain flexibility, which allows the upper part of the extension 33 to be displaced in the plane represented in FIG. 4, so that by pressing on the area 34 of the push-button, the protuberance 32 can be moved, of so that it exits the hole 42 of the cover, releasing the cover 4 (when the pressure on the zone 34 is released, the protuberance will return to the position of figure 4). In the assembly phase, the second element 2 can be introduced first into the first element 1, to its engagement position, and then the push element 3 is placed. When the push element is placed (by introducing its lower extension 33 in the channel 13 in the first element), retention means 31 (which include a retention surface substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the sheath) are displaced downwards, piercing (thanks to the flexibility of the push-button element 3, which allows transverse displacement of the retaining means during assembly) a blocking projection 214 provided in the first part 21 of the second element 2. Once the retaining means (the surface) 31 (see also Figure 5) have been below of the blocking projection 214, said projection rests on the retention surface
(véase la figura 4) , de manera que el elemento pulsador(see figure 4), so that the push-button element
3 y el segundo elemento 2 se bloquean mutuamente, de manera" -que--el--segundo-- elemento -2 ya- no puede ser retirado del primer elemento 1 y el pulsador 3 ya no puede ser extraído del canal 13.3 and the second element 2 block each other, so "-which - the - second-- element -2 can no longer be removed from the first element 1 and the button 3 can no longer be removed from channel 13.
In correspondence with the surface constituting the retention means 31 associated with the push-button 3, there are two vertical partitions 3IA (figure 5) between which the blocking shoulder 214 will be housed in its locked position (figure 4). That is to say, the horizontal surface and the vertical walls 3IA constitute a "U" shaped configuration in which the blocking projection 214 is housed. The dimensions can be chosen to ensure that the blocking projection 214 is housed in a quite way. adjusted between the vertical walls 31A, whereby the possibility of lateral movement of the pressing element 3 can be reduced. The pressing element may additionally be provided with two fins 35 which, in the resting position of the pressing element (with the lid open and without the user pressing on the push-button element), they can butt against the inner surface of the first element 1, preventing the push-button element 3 from being bent "out" or "back", so that it is difficult to disassemble the element button once the lock between the retention means 31 and the locking boss 214 is established. Once the cover is mounted, the user can place a lighter on the space or free internal 5, introducing the lighter through the open end 6. For the lighter to be securely fastened inside the protective sheath, the sheath must be manufactured with carefully chosen dimensions depending on the type of lighter to which the sheath It is destined. Even so, it may be convenient to provide the case with additional means to ensure that the lighter is accommodated tightly and without play. To this end, in this preferred embodiment of the invention, two opposite openings 215 (radially opposed) defining 5 respective fins 216 configured to be pressed inwardly are provided on the larger faces of the first part 21 of the second element 2 the inner walls of the first element when the second element is introduced into the first element (for example, the pressure on the fins can be exerted by corresponding internal projections 0 113 of the first element; the upper parts of the projections whose lower parts are inserted between the nerves 213). In order to achieve the interaction between the fins 216 and the walls / projections of the first element 1, the lower parts 216A can be provided with the fins of a thickness greater than the thickness of the upper parts 216B of said fins (corresponding to the thickness of the wall of the first part 21 in said area), so that, before introducing the second element into the first O 1 element, the lower parts 216A of the fins protrude outwardly with respect to the tubular body of the first part 21 of the second element 2. The fins, once mounted the cover, are pressed inwards and can be used to exert pressure on the lighter.
In addition, the first part 21 of the second element 2 has, at an opposite end to the open end 6 of the sheath body, at least two facing protrusions 216 that serve to embrace and fix the lower part of the lighter that is inserted.
On the other hand, the first element 1 presents, in correspondence -cen-el - ext-oar- open .... 6 _ of the cover body, two protrusions 14 facing each other (one of them it can be seen in figure 3) configured to push the lighter radially, specifically, to move it away from the part of the cover on which the cover is hinged, this to establish a minimum distance between the lighter and the corresponding part of the cover. This serves to prevent the lighter from overheating the case.
In Figure 1 it can be seen how the first element 1 has an open end 12 to allow the introduction of the second element 2 through said end. In this case, the second element has its lower end closed and there the second material (rubber) is configured to stop (or almost stop) against the second end 12 of the first element, when the second element is inserted into the first element.
