Abstract

The invention concerns a water-in-oil emulsion with high internal phase (HIPE) whereof the continuous external oil phase comprises at least one ethylenically saturated monomer and at least one emulsifier soluble in the oil phase. The invention is characterized in that the aqueous phase contains, in solution, at least partly neutralized acrylic acid, and does not contain any mineral salt, said emulsifier(s) being selected among macromolecular emulsifiers with or without added molecular emulsifiers, and, in the case where the acrylic acid is partly neutralized and is present at a concentration lower than 20 wt. % in the aqueous phase, and among molecular emulsifiers as well.
