- the present invention relates to a motorcycle in which an engine to be disposed below a main pipe is mounted to a vehiclebodyframe includingaheadpipewhich steerablysupports a front fork and the main pipe extending from the head pipe downward and rearward, the head pipe is covered by a front cover from the front, and the main pipe is covered by the main pipe side covers from the sides, and more specifically, to an improved vehicle body cover structure.
- JP-A-2003-320977 Disclosed in JP-A-2003-320977 is a vehicle body cover structure for a motorcycle in which both sides of the front cover are connected to upper front portions of a pair of left and right main pipe side covers, and a pair of left and right leg shields are detachably attached to the front portions of the main pipe side covers so as to join the upper edges thereof to the both side edges of the front cover smoothly.
- One or more embodiments of the present invention provide a vehicle body cover structure for a motorcycle in which portion of a vehicle body cover other than a leg shield can carry out part of the function of a leg shield even when the leg shield is removed, and flexibility in design can be increasedbymaking the joint portion of the leg shield hardly be recognized from the side. Moreover, one or more embodiments of the present invention provide a vehicle body cover structure for a motorcycle in which partial replacement of the vehicle body cover in association with the change of the specification of the main key can be achieved easily at a low cost.
- a vehicle body cover structure of a motorcycle is provided with: a front cover that covers a head pipe from a front of the head pipe; a main pipe side cover that covers a main pipe from a side of the main pipe; a protruded portion protruding from both side ends of the front cover in sideward directions; and a leg shield continuing from the lower side of the protruded portion and detachably mounted to the main pipe side cover.
- the head pipe may steerably support a front fork
- themainpipe may extend fromthe headpipe downward and rearward
- an engine may be mounted below the main pipe.
- the protruded portion may be formed substantially into aV-shape opened toward the inside in lateral cross section.
- a front winker may be mounted on the protruded portion.
- the leg shield maybe formedsubstantially into aV-shapeopenedtowardthe inside inlateral cross-section.
- a vehicle body cover structure of a motorcycle is provided with: a front cover that covers a head pipe from a front of the head pipe; a pair of left and right main pipe side covers that covers a main pipe from sides of the main pipe; a main pipe upper cover that covers the main pipe and detachably joined to upper portions of the pair of the left and right main pipe side covers; and amain keymounting hole formed on the main pipe upper cover.
- the head pipe may steerably support a front fork, themainpipemay extend fromthe headpipe downward and rearward, and an engine may be mounted below the main pipe.
- the front cover, the main pipe side cover and the main pipe upper cover may be secured together in such a manner that one of the front cover, the main pipe side cover and the main pipe upper cover is interposed between remaining two of the front cover, the main pipe side cover and the main pipe upper cover.
- themainpipe side cover maybe interposed between the front cover and the main pipe upper cover.
- the protruded portion protruding from the both side ends of the front cover sideward is provided, and the leg shield continuing from the lower side of the protruded portion is detachably mounted to the main pipe side cover, even though the leg shield is removed, the protruded portion carries out part of the function of the leg shield and the joint portion of the leg shield with respect to the protruded portion can hardly be recognized from the side, flexibility in design can be increased by removing the leg shield.
- the protruded portion is formed substantially into aV-shape openedtowardthe inside in lateral cross section, the rigidity of the protruded portion can be increased.
- the distance between the left and right front winkers can be set to a large value and, in addition, the front winker is prevented from coming apart from the vehicle body cover even when the leg shield is removed.
- the leg shield is formed substantially into • a V-shape opened toward the inside in lateral cross-section, the rigidity of the leg shield can be increased.
- the main pipe upper cover which covers the main pipe is detachably joined to the upper portions of the pair of the left and right main pipe side covers and the main key mounting hole is formed on the main pipe upper cover, when the specification of the main key is changed, only the main pipe upper cover which connects the upper portions of the pair of left and right main pipe side covers must be replaced. Because, what must be replaced is a main pipe upper cover, that is, a relatively small cover component, part replacement of the vehicle body cover in association with the specification of the main key can be achieved easily at a low cost.
- the front cover, the main pipe side cover, and the main pipe upper cover are secured together in a sandwich structure in which one of these covers is interposed between the remaining two covers, the number of components for joining the front cover, the main pipe side cover, and the main pipe upper cover can be reduced.
