Description
LIGHT EMITTING UMBRELLA
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a light emitting umbrella, and in particular to a light emitting umbrella in which light is emitted at each rib tip of an umbrella and in an inner direction of the same, so that night visibility is enhanced, and an accident danger is minimized.
[2]
Background Art
[3] In many conventional arrangements, various lighting elements are installed at an umbrella, which has been generally used in order to avoid rain, in order to enhance the safety of users. As one representative, a battery and a switch are installed at a handle part. A light emitting lamp is installed at the top of a umbrella frame, so that night visibility is enhanced when a user uses the umbrella at night. Namely, a light emitting lamp is installed at the top of a umbrella frame and the tips of ribs.
[4] However, in the conventional umbrella, a plurality of lamps are concurrently used using power supplied from a small size battery installed at the handle, so that it is impossible to use a long time light emitting effect. Therefore, the battery should be exchanged frequently.
[5] In order to overcome the above conventional problems, according to the Korean utility model application Nos. 1999-0003059 and 2003-0005165, one light emitting lamp is used as a light source, and a plurality of light emitting parts are provided using multiple optical fibers. In the above conventional light emitting umbrella, a transparent or colored light emitting part is installed at an end of each optical fiber arranged along the ribs of the umbrella, namely, at a tip of each rib. When viewing the umbrella, light are emitted from a plurality of light emitting parts installed at the edges of the umbrell a, so that it is possible to enhance visibility in help of the thusly emitting light.
[6] However, in the conventional light emitting umbrella, it is impossible to light the inner side of the umbrella, so that there is a certain limit of enhancing visibility.

Technical Problem
[8] Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a light emitting umbrella in which light is emitted inside the umbrella by improving the conventional light emitting umbrella designed to emit light from the light emitting parts installed at the tips of ribs using optical fibers.
[9]
Technical Solution
[10] To achieve the above object, the present invention is implemented using a lateral direction light emitting optical fiber capable of emitting light in a lateral direction. A lateral direction light emitting optical fiber is wound at a certain interval therebetween or on the entire surface portions of the straight direction light emitting optical fiber conventionally arranged along the umbrella ribs, so that the inner side of the umbrella is lightened, for thereby significantly enhancing visibility. In addition, it is possible to design the light emitted from the optical fibers with various colors for thereby achieving various styles of umbrellas.

Mode for the Invention
[17] The preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[18] Figure 1 is a front view of a preferred embodiment of the present invention, Figure
2 is a perspective view illustrating a key element of the present invention, Figure 3 is a cross sectional view illustrating an engaged state of a handle according to the present invention, Figure 4 is a disassembled perspective view illustrating a key element in order to shown the entire arrangement of Figure 3, and Figures 5 A through 5C are views of wound states of a lateral direction light emitting optical fiber. The ar¬ rangement of the present invention will be described with reference to the ac¬ companying drawings.
[19] In a light emitting umbrella 1 according to the present invention, a battery 3, a switch 4, and a light emitting lamp 5 electrically connected with the battery 3 and
being flashed by the switch 4 are installed within a handle 2. A lateral direction light emitting optical fiber 8 is arranged for emitting light along an umbrella frame 6 and umbrella ribs 7, with one end of the lateral direction light emitting optical fiber 8 being arranged near the light emitting lamp 5. A light emitting part 9 (tips of ribs) is designed to receive light from the lateral direction light emitting optical fiber 8 and to output light.
[20] In the present invention, the lateral direction light emitting optical fiber 10 is wound at the straight direction light emitting optical fiber 8 arranged along the umbrella ribs 7 in order to transfer light, and a rotation member 11 in which a cellophane paper 11a having various colors is inwardly sectioned is facially engaged with a driving member 12 at the upper side of the light emitting lamp 5 embedded at the handle 2, with one end of the driving member 12 being exposed to the outside of the handle 2. Therefore, when the light of the light emitting lamp 5 is transferred to the straight direction light emitting optical fiber 8, the light is transferred through the cellophane paper 11a engaged with the rotation member 11. At this time, a friction protrusion is formed at a friction portion between the rotation member 11 and the driving member 12. Here, the light emitting lamp 5 is eccentrically installed at one side of the rotation member 11.
[21] As shown in Figure 5 A, the lateral direction light emitting optical fiber 10 is very intensively wound around the entire portions of the straight direction light emitting fiber 8. In another embodiment of the present invention, as shown in Figure 5B, the lateral direction light emitting optical fiber 10 may be wound around the entire portions of the straight direction light emitting optical fiber 8 is a spring shape. As shown in Figure 5C, it may be wound at a certain interval.
[22] In addition, in the present invention, it is possible to view the light of the lateral direction light emitting optical fiber 9 from the outside when an umbrella cloth is formed of a transparent material.
[23] With the above-described arrangement of the present invention, when a user uses the light emitting umbrella 1 at night, the visibility is significantly enhanced for thereby minimizing the accident. When the light emitting umbrella 1 is used at night, the light emitting lamp 5 is flashed by operating the switch 4, so that the inner sides and edge portions of the umbrella 1 concurrently emit light, so that it is possible to maximize the visibility.
[24] Namely, when the light emitting lamp 5 is turned on, the light of the light emitting lamp 5 is transferred to the light emitting part 9 of the edge portions of the umbrella 1 through the straight direction light emitting optical fiber 9 arranged along the umbrella ribs 7. At this time, the light transferred to the light emitting part 9 through the straight direction light emitting optical fiber 8 lights the interior of the umbrella 1 through the lateral direction light emitting optical fiber 10 wound on the surface of the straight
direction light emitting optical fiber 8, so that the surrounding portions of the umbrella 1 are lighted for thereby enhancing visibility.
[25] In the present invention, when providing the light from the light emitting lamp 5 to the straight direction light emitting optical fiber 8, since the light is emitted through the cellophane paper 11 engaged with the rotation member 11, it is possible to change the colors of light supplied to the light emitting part 9. Namely, when the driving member 12 exposed to the outside of the handle 2 is driven, the rotation member 11 facially contacting with the driving member 12 is rotated, so that various colors of the cellophane paper 11a sectioned on the rotation member 11 can be selected.
[26] In addition, when the umbrella cloth 13 of the umbrella 1 is formed of a transparent material, it is possible to concurrently view the light of the light emitting part 9 and the light emitted from the lateral direction light emitting optical fiber 10 for thereby maximizing the visibility. The present invention may be well adapted to the ap¬ plications for kids. In this case, the umbrella may be configured to have a good outer look and interesting. The use of the present invention may be achieved at night with safety.
[27]
Industrial Applicability
[28] As described above, in the light emitting umbrella 1 according to the present invention, the inner side of the umbrella 1 and the light emitting part 9 engaged at the end of each umbrella rib 7 are lighted using one light emitting lamp 5. In addition, it is possible to emit light with various colors using the cellophane paper 11a engaged with the rotation member 11. In the present invention, it is possible to significantly enhance visibility. Since the light may be flashed with various colors, various fashion styles may be achieved using the above light. When the present invention is adapted to the umbrella applications for kids, it is possible to enhance interesting of kids.
