Abstract

An automatic fire alarm and extinguishing device comprising fire sensitive unit (4), control unit (3), alarm device (2) and fire extinguishing device (5) is disclosed. The fire sensitive unit (4) comprises a thermometer measuring the temperature at the monitored location, a video camera taking images when temperature changes are measured by the thermometer, and a circuit transmitting the captured image to the control unit (3). In the control unit (3), the signals received from the fire sensing unit (4) are transformed into digital values, which are compared to a reference value. Upon changes of the values the control unit (3) causes the video camera to take images which are sent back to the control unit (3), where the nature of a fire is judged and messages are sent to the alarm device (2) and the extinguishing device (5).
