Technisches AnwendungsgebietTechnical application
The present invention relates to an electrical connection line which is composed of one or more electrical conductors embedded in an elastic, electrically insulating material and is designed as a ribbon cable. The invention also relates to a method for producing an electrical connection line.
In the field of implantation medicine, the problem often arises of the electrical connection of implanted components to other implanted or out-of-body units. Thus, suitable nerve leads are required, in particular for the electrical connection of nerve electrodes with a stimulator. These nerve leads should have sufficiently flexible properties to be able to compensate for the movements of the surrounding tissue.
Stand der TechnikState of the art
For many applications, ribbon cables are used for the electrical connection of nerve electrodes, which are formed of an elastic polymer material with electrical conductors embedded therein. Such ribbon cables, as they are known, for example, from DE 100 28 522 A1, although allow sufficient bending movements over the cable surface, However, extensions and longitudinal bends allow only limited.
Metal lines are known, which are encapsulated in a polymer. Although these pacemaker cables have good flexibility in the longitudinal direction, but the parallel use of a higher number of electrical conductors or wires are not suitable.
The object of the present invention is to provide an electrical connection line and a method for its production, which has sufficient flexibility in the longitudinal direction and also allows the use of a larger number of electrical conductors in the connecting line.
Darstellung der ErfindungPresentation of the invention
The object is achieved with the electrical Verbindungs¬ line and the method according to claims 1, 5, 6 and 8. Advantageous embodiments of the connecting line and the method are the subject of the dependent claims or can be found in the following description and the exemplary embodiments.
The present electrical connection line, in particular for implanted components, is composed of one or more electrical conductors embedded in an elastic, electrically insulating material and is designed as a ribbon cable. Preferably, this is elastic, electrical insulating material is a polymer, in particular a thermoplastic. The design as a ribbon cable allows above all the embedding of many individual electrical conductors side by side, thereby. To obtain a large number of connection channels with only one connecting line .zu. In the present invention, the ribbon cable has, at least in sections, an outer shape which is corrugated in the unloaded state, the embedded electrical conductors following the waveform. Under the unloaded state is to be understood here that the ribbon cable is already made wave-shaped, ie occupies the waveform without the action of external forces.
With this formed according to the invention electrical connection line can be compared to a conventional ribbon cable higher mobility or flexibility of the line in all directions reach. Since no cable loops need to be placed artificially during implantation, the present electrical connection line can be implanted very easily. During a movement in the longitudinal direction, initially only the waveform of the connecting line is changed without stretching the Leitungs¬ material and embedded therein electrical conductors themselves. Through this waveform, a line reserve is created, which is automatically present when loosely laying the line. This facilitates implantation, especially in poorly accessible implantation sites. The waveform also allows an independent return to the original form. The present electrical connection line can also be very easily produced by annealing or gluing. Thus, a prefabricated ribbon cable made of a thermoplastic can then be tempered using a suitable Temperform in ^ the waveform. Furthermore, it is also possible to bond the one or more electrical conductors or a thin prefabricated ribbon cable with the electrical conductors on one or both sides with a more stable polymer film, which is bereitge¬ in the desired waveform. A polymer film with this waveform can also be produced, for example, by way of an annealing process with a corresponding tempering mold. When two stable polymer foils are used, between which the electrical conductors or the thin ribbon conductor are adhered to the waveform, the electrical conductors are in the middle, ie in the neutral position, so that they are only slightly loaded when the waves are deformed , In a third production variant, the electrical conductors are brought between two preferably flat polymer films. The polymer films are glued together, whereby the curing of the adhesive used takes place in a form with wavy shaping surfaces, in which the polymer films are fitted with the intervening electrical conductors before the curing of the adhesive.

Wege zur Ausführung der ErfindungWays to carry out the invention
Durch dieseIn Fig. 1, an electrical connection line 1 according to the present invention is shown schematically. The electrical connection line 1 in this case establishes the electrical connection between two implants 2, 3. The connecting line 1 consists of a polymer material in which two metallic conductors 13 are embedded in the present example, which are dashed in the figure are indicated. The connecting line 1 is designed as a ribbon cable with a waveform, as can be seen in the figure. The waves are formed perpendicular to the plane in which the flat ribbon has its greatest width. Through this
Embodiment, the mobility of Verbindungs¬ line 1 in the transverse direction 4 and 5 increases longitudinal direction without having to stretch the line. When moving in both directions, only the waveform of the line is changed first.
Die Verbindungs- leitung 1 weist in diesem Beispiel nur in einemFig. 2 shows a second example of a possible embodiment of an electrical connection line according to the present invention. The connecting line 1 has in this example only in one
Section one waveform and runs straight in the other section. Due to the 90 ° deflection of the electrical connection line 1, a deflection 6 in this deflection is possible. The longitudinal expansion 5 is also indicated in the figure. By the waves that extend into the bend, both an increase and a Ver¬ kleinern the deflection radius without higher line load is possible. Using the waveform only at selected positions or sections avoids increased material consumption for the line.
Zur Kontaktierung derFinally, FIG. 3 shows in longitudinal section a further exemplary embodiment, in which the electrical line 1 has an integrated functional element. In this example, a cuff-shaped electrode 11 is formed by one end of the lead, which lays around the nerve 12. Between this cuff and the other end of the line, the wave-shaped portion is formed. The electrical Verbindungs¬ line is composed of two polymer layers 7, 8 together, between which one or more electrical conductors 9 are embedded. For contacting the
Conductor tracks, .ist the lower polymer layer 8 at one end open at the bottom, so that there elek¬ cal contact surfaces 10 arise. This takes place in the same way on the side of the sleeve, on which individual electrical contact surfaces as electrodes 11 for contacting the nerve 12 are also exposed by partially opening the lower polymer film 8.
Fig. 4 shows an example of the production of an electrical connection line according to the present invention. In this embodiment, a rectilinear ribbon cable Ia with printed conductors embedded in it is brought into an annealing mold 14 and annealed in this form. The tempering mold 14 has for this purpose the corresponding waveform. For the use of this method, it is necessary that the straight line ribbon used Ia is formed from a thermoplastic.
An alternate fabrication technique is shown in FIG. In this example, two stable polymer films 7, 8 are provided which have been formed into the appropriate waveform. This can be done by an annealing process, as has already been explained in connection with FIG. 4. Subsequently, one or more linear metallic conductors or a thin ribbon cable Ia with or several of these conductors between the two Polymer¬ films 7, 8 introduced and glued to these. Due to the higher stability of the two polymer films 7, 8, the selected electrical connection line 1 is formed in this way.
6 shows a third example of the manufacture of the electrical connection line. In this example, the electrical conductors 13 are introduced together with an adhesive 16 between two planar polymer films 7, 8. The introduction of the adhesive 16 may also be carried out before or after the insertion of the electrical conductors 13. The polymer films 7, 8 are then brought together and, for curing the adhesive 16, fitted in a form 16 with wave-shaped forming surfaces. In this form, the curing of the adhesive takes place 18, which can also be supported for example by temperature or UV exposure. After the curing process, the resulting wave-shaped connecting line 1 is removed from the mold 16.
