Abstract

A dental implant is described that includes a surface coating of a nanocrystalline apatite layer that is applied electrochemically. A peptide that has an osteoconductive effect is included in an electrolyte solution resulting in a co-deposition with the apatite such that the peptide remains effective in promoting cell adhesion.
