Abstract

A new cell line has been established by previous methods of immortalization with EBV that contains the HCV RNA genome staff y within the mitochondria. Thus, a method for the introduction of non-mitochondrial material into mitochondrial, immortal cell lines, and methods of using the cell lines to produce mitochondrial proteins are presented. The methods are particularly useful for the production of cell lines containing viral genomes that have a part or all of their life cycle within the mitochondria.
