FASTENING DEVICE FOR ROOF EQUIPMENT
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to a fastening device for roof equipment according to the preamble of claim 1.
DESCRIPTION OF BACK GROUND ART
From 098/49411 such a fastening device is previously known, wherein a U-shaped body is intended to rest against the upper side of a roofing tile. A fastening screw passes through the roofing tile and is fixed in an underlying support structure which is in engagement with the roof battens.
A profile body has an upper side corresponding to the shape of the underside of the roofing tile. The previously known fastening device is complicated in its construction, costly and difficult to install. Further, it does not take sufficiently into account the relatively great tolerances, that exist in ordinary roof covering elements such as roofing tiles or the like.
THE AIM AND MOST IMPORTANT FEATURES OF THE INVENTION The aim of the present invention is to provide a fastening device of the kind initially mentioned, wherein the problems with the previously known art is avoided or at least reduced. In particularly it is an aim to provide a fastening device that is easily installed, economic and gentle, for equipment to be mounted at the outside of roofs covered with roofing tiles or the like.
This aim is achieved in a fastening device according to the above through the features of the characterizing portion of the preamble of claim 1.
Hereby is allowed adequate positioning of the fastening element is allowed irrespectively of tolerances of the parts involved and minor deviations at installing respectively.
The resilient distance element results in that when installing a bracket above the roof covering element, automatic adaptation of the upper portion of the distance element against the lower part of the roofing tile will be obtained. Hereby an adequate adaptation will be obtained against the roof covering element in question irrespective of, for example, dimensions of the roof batten used.
Altogether the risk of causing damage to the roof covering element because of variations in tolerances is reduced.
In particular roofing elements such as roofing tiles but also concrete tiles are brittle and risk being damaged at excessive loads that would otherwise occur with solutions according to the background art. According to the invention, the resilient distance element provides that the lower part of the fastening element is in fact adequately positioned with respect to the underside of the roof covering element.
By shaping the distance element as a resilient, bent metal plate strip, an effective and at the same time economically favourably produced solution is provided.
By the distance element being fastened to the fixing portion in a position above an intersection point between the fixing portion and a symmetry axis of said hole, advantageous force distribution in the construction is achieved.
By shaping a root area of the fastening element as a counteracting element, and in particular with a curve shape corresponding to the adjoining area of the roof covering element, advantageous force distribution is achieved in the region of the hole in the roof covering element.
Further advantages are achieved through other features of the invention which will be evident from the below detailed description.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The invention will now be described further by way of embodiments and with reference to the annexed drawings, wherein:
Fig. 1 shows a first embodiment of a fastening device according to the invention,
Fig. 2 shows diagrammatically the fastening device in Fig. 1 applied in connection with a tiled roof,
Fig. 3 shows a second embodiment of the invention, and
Fig. 4 shows diagrammatically the fastening device in Fig. 3 applied in connection with a tiled roof.
DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENT
The fastening device 1 of Fig. 1 for roof equipment on a roof covered with roofing tiles or the like includes a fixing portion 2 being comprised of an upside down turned, shallow U- shaped profile portion, which is provided sideways with fastening portions 5 having holes for nailing and screwing it onto a support such as supporting tongued and grooved board. A
distance element 4 in the form of a bent, essentially corned, S-shaped metal plate strip protrudes from the ridge of the fixing portion 2, and being fastened with the aid of a screw fastener 10. At its distal portion, the distance element 4 provides a root portion 9, essentially in a plane parallel with the general plane of the fixing portion 2, from which root portion 9 a fastening element 3 protrudes, essentially at the right angle to said plane. The fastening element 3 is provided with a screw thread for co-operation with a nut (not shown) which is used for the fixation of roof protection brackets or any other kind of roof equipment.
Fig. 2 shows the fastening device in a using position with the fixing portion 2 attached to a support roof of tongued and grooved board 12. 11 indicates a roof batten for a roofing tile 6, which is provided with a through hole 8. An underlying roofing tile is indicated with 7. From the figure it is evident that the distance element 4, and in particularly its upper portion with the root portion 9, lies against the bottom side of the roofing tile 6.
The fastening element 3 passes through the hole 8. Interrupted lines at 23 indicates a bracket, which is fastened to the device according to the invention, and which is intended for carrying roof equipment at the outside of the roofing tile 6.
Fig. 3 shows an alternatively constructed fastening device 13, wherein an upper portion of its fixing portion 14 provides a downwardly bent upper hook portion for the co-operation with roof batten (indicated with interrupted lines at 19) for roofing tiles or the like. At the other side of the fixing portion 14, the lower side, in the using position, is arranged a portion 18 for lying against the upper side of a roof batten
20 positioned below the roof batten 19. This portion 18 is provided with holes for nails, screws or the like.
At the fastening device 13, the distance to a roofing tile or the like is smaller than with the device according to Fig. 1 and 2, whereby the distance element 16 is constructed correspondingly shorter. The other details are in correspondence with what is shown in Fig. 1 except for a bracket fastening portion 24 positioned side ways, which is intended for conventional brackets and is not a part of this invention and will not be described further here.
Fig. 4 is shown the fastening device 13 with the fixing portion 14 supported against an upper roof batten 19 and a lower roof batten 20. The hook portion 17 is secured against the upper roof batten. Here is also shown a sealing element 25 for avoiding any penetration of water through the hole 22 in the roofing tile 21.
The invention can be modified within the scope of the following claims and the fastening element, the distance element as well as the fixing portion be constructed differently and as an example be constructed with another form than as profiled bodies, even if this embodiment is preferred according to the invention.
The resilient distance element can be designed protruding in any other way from the fixing portion than what is shown and be constructed from another starting material than metal plate.
The invention can be used firstly in connection with roofing elements such as roofing tiles or concrete tiles but within
the scope of the invention is also that it can be used in connection with for example corrugated plate or corrugated plastic material.
