Description A BEDAND LOCKERFORA DORMITORY Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates, in general, to a bed combined with a locker for dormitories and, more particularly, to a bed combined with a locker for dormitories which has an improved structure to be collapsible, thus enhancing space utilization. Background Art
[2] Generally, a bed having a predetermined length is installed in a dormitory to provide sleeping quarters fora number of persons. The bed is configured such that a locker for each person is provided at an end of the bed, and shoes are stored at the opposite end of the bed.
[3] In this case, the bed has a length (about 2m) allowing a person to comfortably lie down. Thus, whenever the person takes an object out from the locker, he or she must take off his or her shoes and get on the bed. Or, the person must bend his or her knees and crawl to the locker with his or her shoes on. As such, the conventional bed inconveniences a user.
[4] Further, when many persons gather in a dormitory, they must take off their shoes and get on the beds, because of insufficient space. Thus, the conventional bed for dormitories is inconvenient to use. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[5] Accordingly, the present invention has been made keeping in mind the above problems occurring in the prior art, and an object of the present invention is to provide a bed combined with a lockerfor dormitories, which is constructed so that bed bodies are installed to correspond to respective lockers, and an upper plate is hinged to each bed body to be foldable, thus allowing a person to fold the upper plate and directly approach the lockerwithout taking off his or her shoes. Further, when inhabitants gather in a dormitory, each bed body is utilized as a chair or desk by folding the upper plate, thus maximizing space utilization.
[6] Another object of the present invention is to provide a bed combined with a locker for dormitories, which further has a sliding desk in the locker.
[7] A further object of the present invention is to provide a bed combined with a locker for dormitories, which is provided with several groups each comprising a locker and a collapsible bed body, thus forming a multiple bed unit. Further, a plurality of multiple bed units may be arranged in multiple layers, thus maximizing space utilization. Technical Solution [8] In order to accomplish the above objects, the present invention provides a bed combined with a locker for dormitories, including a rectangular bed body an upper plate having the same shape as the bed body, and hinged to a predetermined portion of the bed body a support wall to support a side end of the unfolded upper plate; and a locker installed at an end of the bed body, and having a sliding desk therein.
[9] According to an aspect of this invention, the bed body, the upper plate, and the locker constitute one group. Several groups are arranged parallel to each other, thus providing a multiple bed unit.
[10] In another aspect of this invention, as described above, the multiple bed unit is obtained by arranging groups, each having a bed body, an upper plate, and a locker, parallel to each other. One multiple bed unit is installed on the floor, thus forming a lower bed layer. Further, another multiple bed unit having the same construction as the lower bed layer is installed above the lower bed layer, thus forming an upper bed layer. In this way, a bed having a multi-layered arrangement is accomplished. Advantageous Effects
[11] According to the present invention, a bed combined with a locker for dormitories is constructed so that an upper plate is foldable, thus being usable as a chair. The bed provides a path, thus allowing a user to easily approach a locker, therefore enhancing space utilization and convenience. [12] Further, a plurality of single bed sets, each having a locker and a collapsible bed body, may be arranged, thus providing a multiple bed unit. Furthermore, multiple bed units may be installed in multiple layers, thus maximizing space utilization. Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
[21] Hereinafter, the preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[22] FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a bed combined with a lockerfor dormitories, according to an embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 2 is a perspective view showing the assembled state of the bed of FIG. 1, FIG. 3 is a view showing an operation of manipulating a bed body of the bed of FIG. 2, and FIGS. 4 and 5 are views showing operations of manipulating a desk of the bed of FIG. 2.
[23] According to this invention, a bed body 2 includes a rectangular base frame 20 accommodating a plurality of drawers 26 therein, and a flat panel 24 mounted on the base frame 20. The base frame 20 has alength of about 2m to allow a person to comfortably lie back. A step 22 is provided on an upper end of the base frame 20, and supports an upper plate 4 that will be described below. A recess 21 is formed in a lower portion of the base frame 20 such that toes of shoes may be inserted into the recess.
[24] The upper plate 4 has the same shape as the flat panel 24 of the bed body 20, with a handle 42 provided at a predetermined position on the upper plate 4. The upper plate 4 is coupled to the flat panel 24 via hinges 44. Thus, when the upper plate 4 is folded, the upper plate 4 rests on the flat panel 24. Conversely, when the upper plate 4 is unfolded, a side end of the upper plate 4 is supported on a support wall 8 that will be described below.
[25] In this case, the hinges 44 are preferably embedded in the upper plate 4 and the flat panel 24 such that the hinges 44 are not exposed to the outside, thus allowingthe upper plate 4 and the flat panel 24 to be in close contact with each other without any gap when the upper plate 4 is unfolded.
[26] FIGS. 8 and 9 show an upper plate, according to another embodiment of this invention, in which FIG. 8 is a bottom perspective view of the upper plate, according to another embodiment, and FIG. 9 is a view showing the operation of the upper plate of FIG. 8.
[27] As shown in FIG. 8, the upper plate 4 is coupled to the flat panel 24 via rotary units 40, with a link 400 being hinged to each of the rotary units 40. The upper plate 4 is rotated by the rotary units 40 to be folded or unfolded.
[28] In this case, a through hole 401 is formed in a portion of each link 400 hinged to the flat panel 24, and a hole 240 is formed in the flat panel 24 to correspond to the through hole 401. Thus, after the through hole 401 is aligned with the hole 240, a pin 110 is fitted into the aligned through hole 401 and the hole 240. Such a construction allows the upper plate 4 to be fixed to a position which is spaced apart from the flat panel 24, thus being usable as a desk. [29] Further, as shown in FIG. 9, auxiliary legs 5 are accommodated in slots 41 which are formed on the underside of the upper plate 4 such that an end of each auxiliary leg 5 is rotatable. Further, support slots 242 are formed on the flat panel 24 to support ends of the corresponding auxiliary legs 5. When the upper plate 4 rests on the flat panel 24, the auxiliary legs 5 are received in the corresponding slots 41. Meanwhile, when the upper plate 4 is unfolded, the auxiliary legs 5 are rotated and supported in the corresponding support slots 242 of the flat panel 24.
[30] In this case, the positions of the through holes 401 and the holes 240 and the length of the auxiliary legs 5 are preferably set to correspond to an angle allowing the upper plate 4 to move up to the most appropriate height.
[31] The locker 9 comprises a general locker having a plurality of storage compartments 92. However, according to this invention, a desk receiving cavity 94 is formed at a predetermined position in the locker 9, and receives a desk 6 therein. The desk 6 is slidably pulled out from or pushed intothe desk receiving cavity 94.
[32] In this case, a bracket 62 is mounted to the underside of the desk 6, and a support leg 64 is hinged to the bracket 62. Thus, when the desk 6 is pulled out from the desk receiving cavity 94, the support leg 64 is unfolded and rests on the floor. Further, a guide groove 940 is provided in thedesk receiving cavity 94 to receive the support leg 64. Thus, the support leg 64 is folded, prior to pushing the desk 6 in the desk receiving cavity 94 (see, -FIGS. 1, 4, and 5).
[33] The support wall 8 is installed to correspond to the bed body2. Thus, when the upper plate 4 is unfolded, the support wall 8 supports a side end of the upper plate 4. A support step 80 is provided at a position of the support wall 8 corresponding to the upper plate 4 (see, FIG. 3). Mode for the Invention
[34] FIG. 6 shows a bed combined with a locker for dormitories, according to another embodiment of this invention. The bed includes a plurality of bed bodies 2' each having a rectangular base frame 20' and a flat panel 24'. The bed bodies 2' are spaced apart from each other by a predetermined interval. A plurality of upper plates 4' is coupled to the corresponding bed bodies 2'. Further, a support wall 8'is installed to correspond to the outermost bed body 2'. A support step 80 is formed at a predetermined position on the support wall 8' to correspond to the upper plate 4' of the outermost bed body, thus supporting the outermost upper plate 4'when it is unfolded. The bed also includes sliding desks 6'. Each of the desks 6' is provided in a locker 9' installed at an end of each of the bed bodies 2'.
[35] That is, the bed body 2' having the base frame 20' and the flat panel 24', the upper plate 4', and the locker 9' constitute a group. A plurality of groups is parallelly arranged, thus providing a multiple bed unit 200', therefore allowing several persons to use the bed.
[36] FIG. 7 shows a bed combined with a locker for dormitories, according to a further embodiment of this invention. The bed includes a lower bed layer 300", and an upper bed layer 400" which is installed above the lower bed layer 300" to be spaced apart from the lower bed layer 300" by a predetermined interval. Each of the lower and upper bed layers 300" and 400" includes a plurality of bed bodies 2" spaced apart from each other by a predetermined interval and each having a rectangular base frame 20" and a flat panel 24". A plurality of upper plates 4" is coupled to the corresponding bed bodies 2". Further, a support wall 8" is installed to correspond to the outermost bed body of each of the lower and upper bed layers 300" and 400", and a support step 80" is installed at a predetermined position of the support wall 8" to correspond to the upper plate of the outermost bed body, and supports the outermost upper plate 4"when it is unfolded. A sliding desk 6"is provided in a locker 9" that is installed at an end of each bed body 2".
[37] This bed is manufactured by installing the above-mentioned multiple bed units 200' in multiple layers. The multi-layered structure is divided into the lower bed layer 300" and the upper bed layer 400". A plurality of posts 310" is installed between the lower and upper bed layers 300" and 400" to bear a predetermined load. Further, a plurality of ladders 320" and 322" is provided between the lower and upper bed layers 300" and 400", thus allowing a user to easily climb up and down, and allowing convenient use of the lockers 9" which are provided at an upper position.
[38] The height of the upper bed layer 400" is determined such that the user's head does not reach the upper bed layer 400", when the user sits on the lower bed layer 300", and the user's hand reaches the lockers 9" of the upper bed layer 400", when the user stands on the floor. That is, the height of the upper bed layer 400" corresponds to the height of the neck of a user who stands erect.
[39] A footboard 420" is provided at an end on the underside of each base frame 20" of the upper bed layer 400", that is, at a position adjacent to each desk 6", and slides transversally. Thus, when a user sits on the upper bed layer 400" and opens each desk 6", the footboard 420" supports each support leg 64", in addition to allowing the user's feet to rest on the footboard 420".
[40] Further, each upper plate 4" of the upper bed layer 400" is divided into at least two parts. Thus, even when the desk is in use, it is possible to fold or unfold other parts of the upper plate 4".
[41] Reference numeral 8" denotes a support wall, and reference numeral 24" denotes a flat panel.
[42] The operation of this invention constructed as described above is as follows. [43] Since this invention is adapted to a dormitory where a number of persons live, the operation of this invention will be described with reference to the above-mentioned multiple bed unit 200.
[44] At normal times, each upper plate 4 is folded to rest on the correspondingflat panel 24. When each upper plate 4 is folded, a path extending to each locker 9 may be defined. Thus, a user can approach the locker 9 without taking off his or her shoes.
[45] Further, when several persons gather in a dormitory, they may sit on the folded upper plates or bed bodies. Meanwhile, when a user desires to read a book or write, adesk 6 is pulled out from a corresponding locker, and the support leg 64 is unfolded to support the desk 6. In such a state, the user may use the desk.
[46] Meanwhile, when each upper plate 4 is folded, it is possible to freely use the drawers 26 of each base frame 20.
[47] Further, when a user desires to go to bed, the user grasps the handle 42 and rotates the upper plate 4. Thereafter, an end of the upper plate 4 is supported on the support step 80 of the support wall 8 and the step 22 of a neighboring base frame 20.
[48] Meanwhile, even when the multiple bed unit is arranged in multiple layers, its operation is the same asthe above-mentioned operation, so that the operation of the multiple-layered bed will not be described herein.
[49] However, in the case of the multi-layered bed, when a user desires to use the desk of the upper bed layer 400", the footboard 420" is opened, and thereafter the desk 6" is pulled out. Further, since each upper plate 4" of the upper bed layer 400"is divided into several parts, it is possible to fold only a desired part of the upper plate 4".
