Abstract

The electronic display board of the present invention has the elliptical- shaped pixel panels, and thus the strong wind passes through between the pixel panels, so that the electronic display board can be maintained safely from the storm or the strong wind. Also, the prefabricated frame is provided such that the coupling grooves are formed in the inner frame, so that the light shielding member, the printed circuit board, and the driver can be inserted thereinto, whereby manufacturing cost is low. Further, optimum advertising condition can be provided by directing the pixels to a desired direction by adjusting and installing the axis rod arranged on the upper and lower portion of the frame of the pixel panel. That is, the present invention can provides the electronic display board module which is safe from the strong wind, has low manufacturing cost and has excellent advertising effect while achieving stable maintenance.

Description ELECTRONIC DISPLAY BOARD Cross-Reference to Related Application
[1] This application claims the benefit of Korean Patent Application No. 2004-29990, filed on April, 2004, the disclosure of which is hereby incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. Background of the Invention
[2] 1. Field of the Invention
[3] The present invention relates to a display technology using an electronic display board and, more particularly, to an LED electronic display board.
[4] 2. Description of the Related Art
[5] Various methods have been used to transfer information, but of these a video media occupies the most important position and its importance has been increased as a multimedia technology rapidly develops.
[6] Currently, an outdoor media is used to provide vide information (advertisement).
[7] The currently available outdoor media includes a neon, a pana flex, a tri vision, a bill board, an LED display board, etc., and these have merits and demerits. Of these, an electronic display board using LED pixels has low power consumption and high display quality and thus is in the spotlight as large- sized video media advertising means.
[8] A conventional LED electronic display board is manufactured to have a large size and installed in a big stadium, etc. (conventional electronic display board of FIG. 1) and has special use, for example, for displaying players' playing scene, rooting scene or VIPs who attend a ceremony to spectators who are in dead zone. For the foregoing reason, the electronic display board is recognized as unfamiliar one to general population.
[9] The conventional electronic display boards are easily collapsed or damaged by a storm or a strong wind because most of them have a large size, for example, with a width of 3 to 5m and a length of 5 to 10m. Currently, due to development of commercial broadcasting and advertising means, various outdoor medias are installed on a wall or top of a big building as an electronic display board for advertising. The LED electronic display board has low power consumption and high display quality and thus is in the spotlight as large-sized video media advertising means.
[10] The applicant of the present invention has suggested in Korean utility mode no. 0313606 an electronic display board module which includes a pixel panel having a predetermined width and length and made to have a stick shape using a regular square flat plate, the stick-shaped pixel panel attached to a fixing member, a driver electrically connected to respective pixels and controlling on and off of the pixels, and a power supply connected to supply the driver with electrical power.
[11] In embodying an outdoor advertising using the electronic display board module disclosed in Korean utility mode no. 0313606, manufactured are first pixel panels of stick shape with a predetermined width and length having pixels which are necessary for implementing advertising letter, diagram or moving picture which a designer desires to implement and are arranged at an interval which a designer desires so that there are no dead pixels, compared to one which pixels are regularly and densely arranged, and then an electronic display board is made by adding or decreasing pixel panels to be suitable for advertising letter or shape which a designer desires. Thus, maintenance fee of the electronic display board is reduced while having the same size and obtaining the same advertising effect as an outdoor advertisement.
[12] Also, Korean utility model no. 0347656 discloses a frame structure for an LED electronic display board. Using a structure for configuring, assembling and coupling various shapes of frames disclosed in Korean utility model no. 0347656, the electronic display board can be simply installed by assembling. Summary of the Invention
[13] It is an object of the present invention to provide an electronic display board module in which the electronic display board module is manufactured such that pixels have an interval therebetween that an installer desires to keep or a stick-type pixel panel having pixels with a predetermined width and length is installed, the pixel panels has an elliptical shape to make the electronic display board from the strong wind, coupling grooves are formed in the frame, so that the light shielding member, the printed circuit board, and the driver for controlling on and off of the pixels can be inserted thereinto, upper and lower portions are sealed by protection caps having an axis rod, the pixel panel is coupled to the outer frame through the axis rod, and the pixel panel can be directed to a desired angle by adjusting the axis rod, whereby manufacturing cost is lowered and advertising effect is increased compared to a conventional electronic display board used for outdoor advertising of the same size while reducing power consumption due to reduced pixels, leading to low maintenance fee.
[14] The LED electronic display board has LED pixels of red (R), green (G), and blue (B) colors which are latticed, a printed circuit board (PCB) having a control circuit and a driving circuit, a case (body) accommodating the above described parts, and accessories. Typically, a light shielding member is installed on a front of the printed circuit board to improve visual recognition of the LED pixels at daytime which may be lowered due to the sunshine. [15] In general, a pixel size for displaying one Korean word is 16x16. An electronic display board is made such that the pixels are densely installed directly thereon or by combination of pixel panels to emit various color lights to thereby display advertisement, information, word, picture, moving pictures, etc.
[16] The present invention provides a method for displaying advertising a word or shape by coupling a plurality of stick-type pixel panels to an electronic display board for outdoor advertising, including: manufacturing and using an electronic display board in which a stick-type pixel panel having pixels with a predetermined width and length is supported by an elliptical frame, inserting grooves are arranged in the elliptical frame, upper and lower portions of the frame are sealed by a protection cap having an axis rod, the frame of the pixel panel is by the axis rod so that light emitting angle and direction of the pixels can be adjusted to desired angle and direction, both sides of the respective pixel panels which are transversely connected have an elliptical shape so that the wind can be dispersed in a direction of a space between the pixel panels, and the unit pixel panel can be increased or reduced to implement a desired word or shape, thereby protecting the electronic display board from the strong wind. In more detail, a plurality of inserting grooves are formed in the frame of the pixel panel, so that a prefabricated light shielding member is inserted into one inserting groove in a sliding method, a printed circuit board is inserted into another inserting groove, and a driver is inserted into other inserting groove.
[17] The upper and lower portions of the frame are sealed by the protection cap having the axis rod, and the axis rod is coupled to an outer fame of the electronic display board so that light emitting angle and direction can be adjusted to angle and direction a designer desires when advertisement is displayed, thereby increasing advertising effect. The outer frame has a curve shape such as semi-elliptical shape, a U shape, a n shape, a '-' shape, a circular shape, or a heart shape, and the light emitting angle and direction is adjusted in the outer frame, according to a customer's demand. The electronic display board is fixed by an axis rod assembling bolt after adjusting the light emitting region of the pixel panel in the outer frame to desired direction, and a support frame is formed so that the electronic display board has optimum viewing angle, thereby maximizing advertising effect.
[18] The present invention further provides a display device for displaying advertising a word or shape by coupling a plurality of stick-type pixel panels to an electronic display board for outdoor advertising, including: a stick-type pixel panel supported by an elliptical frame, the frame having a plurality of inserting grooves in which a prefabricated light shielding member, a printed circuit board, and a driver are slide- inserted respectively, the frame having upper and lower portions capped by protection caps having an axis rod coupled to an outer frame, wherein a predetermined number of pixel panels are installed in the outer frame to have a straight line, curve or circular shape according to a customer's demand. Rather, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will be thorough and complete, and will fully convey the scope of the invention to those skilled in the art. In the drawings, the thickness of layers and regions are exaggerated for clarity. Like numbers refer to like elements throughout the specification.
[30] FIG. 1 is a schematic view illustrating a conventional large-sized electronic display board module. The electronic display board module is used in stadium, etc., and an electronic display board module having a plurality of pixels 3 which are arranged densely and closely on a front surface of an electronic display board 1 is assembled by an outer frame 2.

[46] Shown is the curve-shaped electronic display board in which the stick-type pixel panel 4 is formed such that pixels 3 have a predetermined width and length and are supported by the elliptical frame 7, the upper and lower portions of the frame 7 are sealed by the frame protection cap 10 having the axis rod 9, the pixel panel 4 is attached to the prefabricated outer frame 2 through the axis rod 9, the pixel panel is assembled to be directed to a desired light-emitting direction, both sides of the respective pixel panels which are transversely connected have an elliptical shape so that the wind is dispersed in a direction of a space between the pixel panels, and the pixel panel can be increased or reduced to implement a desired word or shape. In FIG. 9, the electronic display board has a curve shape, but it can have various shapes according to a customer demand such as semi-elliptical shape, a U shape, a n shape, a circular shape, or a heart shape. The electronic display board of the present invention has excellent advertising effect by coupling a plurality of unit pixel panels to the outer fame, adjusting light emitting direction of the pixels using the axis rod, and installing the support frame to have desired light emitting angle.
[47] According to a view point, more detail description on a technology to embody the present invention can be required, but detail description on this is omitted because related technology to embody the present invention can be understood with reference to Korean utility model nos. 313606 and 347656 which are disclosed by the application of the present invention.
[48] As described hereinbefore, the electronic display board of the present invention has the elliptical- shaped pixel panels, and thus the strong wind passes through between the pixel panels, so that the electronic display board can be maintained safely from the storm or the strong wind. Also, the prefabricated frame is provided such that the coupling grooves are formed in the inner frame, so that the light shielding member, the printed circuit board, and the driver can be inserted thereinto, whereby manufacturing cost is low. Further, optimum advertising condition can be provided by directing the pixels to a desired direction by adjusting and installing the axis rod arranged on the upper and lower portion of the frame of the pixel panel. That is, the present invention can provides the electronic display board module which is safe from the strong wind, has low manufacturing cost and has excellent advertising effect while achieving stable maintenance.

Claims

Claims
[1] A method for displaying advertising a word or shape by coupling a plurality of stick-type pixel panels to an LED electronic display board for outdoor advertising, comprising: manufacturing and using an electronic display board in which a unit pixel panel is fabricated such that a stick-type pixel panel having pixels with a predetermined width and length is supported by an elliptical frame, inserting grooves are arranged in the elliptical frame so that necessary parts can be assembled, and upper and lower portions of the frame are sealed by a protection cap having an axis rod, and the unit pixel panel is attached to an outer fame of the electronic display board through the axis rod so that light emitting angle and direction of the pixels can be adjusted, both sides of the respective unit pixel panels which are transversely connected have an elliptical shape so that the wind can be dispersed in a direction of a space between the pixel panels, and the unit pixel panel can be increased or reduced to implement a desired word or shape.
[2] The method of claim 1, wherein a prefabricated light shielding member is inserted into one inserting groove in a sliding method, a printed circuit board is inserted into another inserting groove, and a driver is inserted into other inserting groove.
[3] The method of claim 1, wherein the outer frame has a curve shape such as semi- elliptical shape, a U shape, a n shape, a '-' shape, a circular shape, or a heart shape, and the light emitting angle and direction is adjusted in the outer frame, thereby improving advertising effect.
[4] A display device for displaying advertising a word or shape by coupling a plurality of stick-type pixel panels to an electronic display board for outdoor advertising, comprising: a stick-type pixel panel supported by an elliptical frame, the frame having a plurality of inserting grooves in which a prefabricated light shielding member, a printed circuit board, and a driver are slide-inserted respectively, the frame having upper and lower portions capped by protection caps having an axis rod coupled to an outer frame, wherein a predetermined number of pixel panels are installed in the outer frame to have a straight line, curve or circular shape.
