Abstract

The present invention relates to a controller for an aqueous bio-polymer separation device. The separation device comprises a container (2) having an aqueous solution therein, comprising at least three compartments (4, 6, 8, 10), wherein the first compartment and second compartment are in fluidic communication, and the second and third compartment are in fluidic communication. The controller comprises a means to control the pH of the aqueous solution in the first and/or third compartment to a value such that the pH in the first and third compartment is maintained substantially constant on application of a current through the aqueous solution.
