Abstract
A nonapeptide from human vitronectin, whose primary structure has been determined, which has been proved to have specific and significant properties in the promotion of osteoblast adhesion. Peptides included in this invention can be usefully applied in odontoiatric and orthopaedic fields for those pathologies that require to recover bone tissue integrity (e.g. implantology).
Claims
1. Nonapeptide 351 -359 of human vitronectin of sequence 2 (FRHRNRKGY).
2. Nonapeptide 351-359 in accordance with claim 1, covalently bound to proteins different from vitronectin.
3. Nonapeptide 351-359 in accordance with claims 1-2 that contains amino acids of D- configuration.
4. Nonapeptide 351-359 in accordance with claims 1-3 covalently bound to carrier molecules.
5. Use of nonapeptide 351-359 in accordance with claims 1-4 for the preparation of composition aimed at promoting osteoblast adhesion.
6. Use of nonapeptide 351 -359 in accordance with claims 1 -4 for the preparation of composition aimed at treating odontoiatric pathologies.
7. Use of nonapeptide 351-359 in accordance with claims 1-4 for the preparation of composition aimed at treating orthopaedic pathologies.
8. Use of nonapeptide 351-359 in accordance with claims 1-4 for the preparation of composition for implantology.
9. Compositions having as active principle nonapeptide 351-359 in accordance with claims 1-4 for the use in promoting osteoblast adhesion.
10. Compositions having as active principle nonapeptide 351-359 in accordance with claims 1-4 for the use in treating odontoiatric pathologies.
11. Compositions having as active principle nonapeptide 351-359 in accordance with claims 1-4 for the use in treating orthopaedic pathologies.
12. Compositions having as active principle nonapeptide 351-359 in accordance with claims 1-4 for the use in implantology.
13. Procedure for the identification and selection of agonists and/or antagonists of nonapeptide 351-359 in accordance with claims 1-4 based on: a) addition of the above mentioned nonapeptide to osteoblast cultures and verification of promotion or inhibition of osteoblast adhesion; b) addition of the above mentioned compositions to osteoblast cultures and verification of osteoblast adhesion promotion or inhibition.
14. Procedure in accordance with claim 13 where steps a) and b) can be performed following a different chronological order.
15. Process for the preparation of nonapeptide 351-359 in accordance with claims 1-4.
