Abstract

A loudspeaker surround system to be used in connection with a TV and including at least one left loudspeaker (2), at least one right loudspeaker (3) and a centre loud speaker (4), where said centre loudspeaker is divided into a high and intermediate frequency loudspeaker as well as a bass loudspeaker. The high and intermediate frequency loudspeakers are according to the invention arranged on top of the TV while the bass loudspeaker is arranged and/or coupled in such a manner that the sound from said bass loudspeaker is delayed relative to the sound from the high and inter mediate frequency loudspeakers, said bass loudspeaker for instance being arranged behind said TV. In this manner the so-called 'law of the first appearing wave front' is utilized. The latter is of importance in the frequency area in which both cabinets emits the same frequencies, because then the listener believes that all the sound in the frequency area in question originates from the location where the first sound burst was transmitted although the first sound is weaker than the latest sound.

Claims

7 AMENDED CLAIMS [Received by the International Bureau on 10 August 2005 (10.08.05)]
1. A loudspeaker surround system to be used in connection with a TN and including at least one left loudspeaker, at least one right loudspeaker and a centre loudspeaker, where said centre loudspeaker is divided into a high and intermediate fre- quency loudspeaker as well as a bass loudspeaker, characterised in that the high and intermediate frequency loudspeaker is arranged on top of the TN or is built into said TN while the bass loudspeaker is arranged and/or coupled in such a manner that the sound from the bass loudspeaker is delayed relative to the sound from the high and intermediate frequency loudspeaker for instance by said bass loudspeaker being arranged behind the TN so as to employ the law ofthe first appearing wave.
2. A loudspeaker system according to claim 1, characterised in that the bass cabinet is arranged at least approximately 30 cm behind the high and intermediate tone cabinet.
3. A loudspeaker system according to claim 1, characterised in that the delay of the signal from the bass cabinet is provided by means of a delay circuit in the supply lines to said bass cabinet (4b).
4. A loudspeaker system according to claim 3, characterised in that the delay circuit provides a delay of approximately 2 ms.
5. A loudspeaker system according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that an already existing filter assists in delaying the signal from the bass cabinet (4b).
6. A loudspeaker system according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the phase conditions can be adjusted by altering the low-pass filtering in the low- frequency cabinet.
7. A centre loudspeaker forming part of a loudspeaker surround system to be used in connection with a TN and including at least one left loudspeaker, at least one right loudspeaker and a centre loudspeaker, where said centre loudspeaker is divided into a high and intermediate frequency loudspeaker as well as a bass loudspeaker, characterised in that the high and intermediate frequency loudspeaker is arranged on top of the TN or is built into said TN while the bass loudspeaker is arranged and/or optionally coupled in such a manner that the sound from the bass loudspeaker is delayed relative to the sound from the high and intermediate frequency loudspeaker for instance by said bass loudspeaker being arranged behind the TN.
