Abstract

The invention relates to a machine (1) and to a method for forming a plate (2) from a blank (3) of sheet-type material comprising a base panel (4) provided with lateral flaps (5,6,8,9), some of which comprising end flaps (7) and forming lateral partitions (10) for said plate. The machine comprises a bearing surface (11,19) on at least one part of the surface of the base panel, a retractable mandrel (15) comprising a surface (18) for applying the panel onto the bearing surface and lateral surfaces defined by edges, means for applying the mandrel to the bearing surface, means (17) for folding the lateral flaps and corresponding flaps against the surfaces opposite the mandrel, means (47,48) for fixing the flaps and folded flaps to each other, and longitudinal stop means (13,20) and lateral stop means for the blank when the base panel is applied to the bearing surface by the mandrel.
