Abstract

A brush card (10) for a DC motor is molded around a lead frame system (16) and includes integral brush card holders (12) and a connector housing (14). Gaskets are molded to the upper and lower peripheries of the brush card and provide interfaces between the brush card and the housing and the end-frame casting (30), respectively, of the motor. There is no direct mechanical connection between the brush card and the housing or the end-frame casting (30) to thereby provide for some resiliency reducing the transmission of brush card vibrations to the motor shell (28) and end frame (30). A portion of the lead frame system (16) extends above the molded plastic for directly attaching a bimetallic circuit breaker (26) to the lead frame (16). A contact (36) for the contact attached to the bimetallic blade (34) of the circuit breaker (26) is attached to the lead frame system before the plastic is molded around it. A capacitor (20) is attached to the lead frame system in an area proximate to the connector housing to increase the filtering effectiveness of the capacitor.
