Abstract

The present invention describes the use of an isolated polypeptide sequence comprising the N-terminal SWKPR motif of progastrin for the generation of a medicament for the treatment of a dyspepsia in a mammal. Also pseudopeptides of polypeptides of the invention are disclosed. The pseudopeptide is of the formula I, (RA')(RA2) N-S-Y1-W-Y2-K-Y3­P-Y4-R-C(=O)O-RB, wherein each Y is an amide bond, pseudo-amide bond or amide bond derivative; and each of S, W, K, P, R represents their the CH-R side chain moiety of their respective amino acids, or known derivatives thereof. Pharmaceutical preparations comprising at one or more peptides and/or pseudopeptides of the invention are also provided.
