Abstract

A suite of tools for use in analysing and working with an electronically stored document are described. The tools permit a user to locate and then remove or correct examples of inconsistent formatting within the text of the document, particularly inconsistent use of 'styles' and unusual use of formatting properties. The tools also provide a user with information about potential or actual irregularities in the formatting of the document by applying a set of rules to the document for determining if the formatting of the document is acceptable.
