Description

POP-UP VALVE FOR WATER VESSEL AND DEVICE FOR AUTOMATICALLY OPENING/CLOSING THE SAME
Technical Field The present invention relates to a pop-up valve assembly for wash vessel and device for automatically opening/closing the same, and more particularly, a pup-up valve capable of containing or easily discharging water in a wash vessel, in which the pop-up valve for opening/closing a sink-hole in the wash vessel and a sleeve connected to the lower part of the pop-up valve are constructed to be separable with each other, and a lever for pushing the lower part of the sleeve is installed to incline downwardly, thereby preventing an drainage way from being clogged by a foreign material such as hair entangled on the sleeve and the lever, and easily getting rid of the foreign material by lifting the sleeve up from the drainage way. The present invention further relates to a pop-up valve assembly, in which the pop-up valve for opening/closing a drainage way in the wash vessel and a sleeve connected to the lower part of the pop-up valve are constructed as a separated component and connected with each other through a screw system, a ball-shaped portion is formed on a lower part of the sleeve, a fixing element, in which a protruding part is formed on the inner circumference thereof and the ball-shaped portion is inserted, is inserted in the lower part of a drainage-guiding pipe, and a part of lever for moving up and down the sleeve in contact with the lower part of the sleeve is extended out of a connecting pipe under the drainpipe through a spherical-shaped rotating means. Therefore, the pop-up valve assembly for wash vessel prevents the foreign material such as hair from being caught in the sleeve and the lever to close the sink-hole when the used water is discharged. The drainage-guiding pipe is connected to the drainpipe of a trap for wash vessel with coaxial to drain the used water quickly. In particular, as the pop-up valve and the sleeve connected to the valve is easily lifted up, the removing of foreign material and washing can be easily done. In addition, the pop-up trap and the sleeve connected to the trap is easily assembled and inserted. Further, as the device for opening/closing the pop-up valve is operated by only operating the switching means, a child, an old and feeble person, or a disabled person can use the wash vessel with easy.
Background Art The conventional pop-up valve for wash vessel which is attached to a wall or is standing type is used to keep water in the wash vessel or to discharge used water in the vessel. As most of the conventional pop-up valve uses a double structured pipe, or a flexible pipe, the opening/closing of the pop-up valve is restricted. In particular, there is a problem that a foreign material such as hair is caught in a sleeve of the pop-up valve and a lever to obstruct the discharging of water. When the foreign material is removed, the lever should be disassembled by a special tool. In addition, the pipe should be disassembled and cleaned with regular. In recent, a pop-up valve for a wash vessel overcoming the above-mentioned problems is disclosed in the Korean utility model 20-0336844. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the pop-up valve is constructed such that a sleeve 4 is integrally connected to the lower part of a pop-up valve 2 installed in a sink-hole3 of a wash vessel 1 and is installed in a drainpipe 5, and a permanent magnet 6 is installed on the lower part of the sleeve 4 to be connected to an external permanent magnet 7 installed on one end of a lever 9. The lever is connected to a pop-up lever 8. A trap hook 10 is formed on the lower part of the sleeve 4 to filter a foreign material such as hair, and etc. In such pop-up valve for wash vessel, when a wastewater or sewage in the wash vessel 1 is discharged, the front end of the lever 9, which is connected in parallel to the lower part of the pop-up lever 8, is lifted up by pushing the pop-up lever 8, and the sleeve 4 is lifted up together with the pop-up valve 2 to discharge the wastewater or the sewage through the drainpipe. At this time, the lower part of the sleeve 4 and one end of the lever 9 is connected by internal permanent magnet 6 and the external permanent magnet 7. In particular, the trap hook 10 is formed on the lower end of the sleeve to filter out a foreign material such as hair. When lifting up the pop-up valve 2 by using the lever 9, however, a load in concentrated on the magnets connected by magnetism. Therefore, the pop-up valve cannot be properly lifted up by the sliding between the magnets, and the wastewater cannot be discharged accordingly. Further, when the foreign material caught in the pop-up valve 2, the sleeve 4 connected to the lower part of the pop-up valve and the trap hook 10 is removed, the sleeve 4 is separated from the lever 9, and the pop-up valve 2 and the sleeve 4 are lifted up again. When separating the lever and the sleeve connected with each other by the magnets, it is difficult to separate the pop-up valve as the magnets are connected by a strong magnetic force. Further, there is a problem that the foreign material such as hair is caught on the lever 9 and the trap hook 10 to close the drainpipe 5 occasionally, when the pop-up valve 2 is opened and the foreign material is discharged together with water. In addition, as the pop-up valve is positioned on the rear end of the wash vessel, a child, an old and feeble person, or a disabled person would not reach the pop-up valve. If reached, the pushing power may be not enough to open the pop-up valve fully.
Disclosure of the Invention Therefore, an object of the present invention is to solve the problems involved in the prior art, and to provide a pop-up valve assembly for wash vessel prevents the foreign material such as hair from being caught in the sleeve and the lever to close the sink-hole when the used water is discharged.

Meanwhile, a connecting part 240 is installed on one side of the drainpipe 150, in which one end of the lever 190 is inserted, and engaged with a cap 241 through a screw-engagement. A rotating means jointing part 250, which has a lever through hole 252, is mounted in the inside of the connecting part 240. The lever through hole has a spherical groove 251 , in which the spherical-shaped rotating means 230 is rotated, a top and bottom holes, formed one end, for controlling the up and down movement of the lever 190 , and a narrow center. In Fig. 6 - Fig. 9, disclosed is a device for automatically opening/closing the pop-valve assembly for wash vessel, which opens/closes the pop-up valve 120 by moving the lever 190, which is installed on the present pop-up valve or a conventional pop-up valve, up and down. The device for automatically opening/closing the pop-up valve according to the present invention is provided with connecting means 323, 334 and 346, and moving means 300 for moving the connecting means to drive the lever for moving the pop-up valve 2. The moving means 300 transfers power from motors 320, 330 and 340 to the connecting means, and is constructed as shown in Figs. 1 , 3 and 4. The moving means 300 will be described in detail with reference to Fig. 1. The moving means 300 is provided with the motors for moving the connecting means 323. A through hole 323b for the lever is formed on one end of the connecting means 323, and an axis connecting-hole 323a is formed on the other end of the connecting means. An up and down moving-axis 322 is connected to the axis connecting-hole 323a of the connecting means 323 with rotatable. An axis of the motor 320 is a gear box 321 , and the gear box 321 converts the turning force of the motor 320 to reciprocation force. The reciprocation force converted by the gear box 321 is transferred to the up and down moving-axis 322. As described above, one end of the up and down moving-axis 322 is connected to an output axis of the gear box 321 , and the connecting means 323 is connected to the other end with rotatable. The connecting means 323 is a means for transferring the reciprocation of the up and down moving-axis 322 to the lever 190, and is connected to a portion of the middle of the lever 190 with rotatable. The lever 190 is a means for driving the pop-up valve 2, and pushes up a sleeve to pop the pop-up valve 120 out of a drainage way of a wash vessel. A control box 350 is provided to control the power supplied to the motor 320. As will be seen from Figs. 2, the control box 350 is provided with a torque sensing part 355 for sensing torque of the motor 320, a torque regulating part for controlling the torque of motor, and a microprocessor 354 for controlling a driving time and a driving direction of the motor through a signal inputted from a switching means which controls the power supplied to the motor. The driving direction of the motor is changed by reversing the direction of current supplied to the motor 320 according to the number of switching times of a switching means 351. The switching means 351 is a mechanical push switch 351a operated by a user, or a sensor switch 351b such as an optical sensor, which is automatically switched by sensing the user. When the sensor switch 351b is used as the switching means 351 , the motor 320 is prevented from being driven irrespective of the use of the wash vessel by setting a sensing range short. The mechanical push switch 351a of the switching means 351 is installed on a side of the upper portion of the wash vessel, a side of the front part of the wash vessel or a portion at which the user's foot is touched. If the switch is installed on the floor, It is preferably to perform waterproof coating on the floor in order to prevent an electronic shock. Further, as the mechanical push switch 351a is installed on the portion on which a conventional pop-up lever for opening/closing the pop-up valve, it is convenient for the user being familiar with the conventional pop-up lever. Further, it is preferably to protect the control box 350 with a waterproof case in order to prevent the electric or electronic components therein from being damaged by an electric leakage caused by water. The control box 350 and the motor 320 are fixed on a fixing plate 360. The fixing plate 360 is fixed to a fixing means 310 which is connected to the drainpipe 5 installed on the lower part of the wash vessel. Further, as the connecting means 323 is installed on the up and down moving-axis 322 of the motor 320 by fixing the connecting means to the up and down moving-axis 322 with a fixing bolt, the connecting means is easily detached from the up and down moving-axis. The moving means 300 will be described in detail with reference to Fig. 3. As described above, the moving means is provided with the connecting means 334 similar with the connecting means 323. the upper end of the connecting means 334 is formed with a through hole 334a for lever in the same manner as the connecting means 323, and the lower end of the connecting means is formed with a gear inserting part 334a in which a through hole 334b for a gear is formed. The inner surface of the through hole 334b for gear, which is formed on the gear inserting part 334a, is formed with a screw thread. A screw gear 333 is engaged with the through hole 334b for gear. A driven gear 332 shaped as a spur gear is installed on the lower end of the screw gear 333. a driven gear 331 engaged with the driven gear 332 is installed on the rotating axis of the motor 330. That is to say, when the motor 330 is driven and the driven gear 331 is rotated to drive the driven gear 332, the gear inserting part 334a formed in the lower end of the connecting means 334 is moved up and down by the screw gear 333 rotated by the rotation of the driven gear 332. Therefore, one end of the lever 190 is moved up and down to lift up and down the sleeve installed on the lower end of the pop-up valve 2 to open/close the valve 2. A control box 350 is provided to the moving means 300. the control box is similar with the aforementioned control box and its detailed description will be omitted. Further, the moving means 300 can be constructed as will be seen from Fig. 4. The moving means 300 is installed on the connecting means 346 the same as that in Fig. 1. the lever 190 is inserted into the other end opposite to the one end on which the moving means 300 is installed. The one end of the connecting means 346, which is opposite to the other end to which the lever 190 is connected, is provided with a rotating plate 345 centered on the one end of the connecting means. The rotating center of the rotating plate 345 is provided with a driven gear 344. The driven gear 344 may be a spur gear. The driven gear rotates the driven gear 334 through the driving gear 341 driven by the motor 340. One and more gears can be installed between the driving gear 341 and the driven gear. As shown in Fig., the motor 340 having the driving gear 341 is installed perpendicular to the sleeve, and the rotating direction of each of the gears 342 ~ 343 is perpendicular to the sleeve. When the driven gear 343 under the condition that the rotating direction of the driven gear 343 is perpendicular to the sleeve, the rotating plate 345 installed on the rotating center of the driven gear 344 is rotated by the rotation of the driven gear 343. Further, as described above, the rotation direction of the motor 340 is repeated with right and left under the control of the control box 350. Thus, the other end of the rotating plate 345 is moved up and down according to the right or left rotation of the motor to lift up and down the connecting means 346. Therefore, the one end of the lever 190 is moved up and down. The moving up and down of the lever 190 lifts the sleeve up and down to open/close the pop-up valve 2. Further, as will be seen from Fig. 6 ~ Fig. 9, a pop-up lever 370 having a pitch adjusting plate 371 which regulates height is provided to the lever 190. Therefore, the driving means is out of order, or miss-operated, the pop-valve can be operated manually. The operation and effect of the present invention is as follows. First, the pop-up valve assembly will be described. As shown in Fig. 3 ~ Fig. 5, in the case that the used water is discharged through a drainage way in the wash vessel, when one end of the lever 190, which is connected to the pop-up lever 180, is lifted up by pushing the pop-up lever installed on the wash vessel, the one end of the lever 190 lifts up the sleeve 140 and the pop-up valve 120 to discharge the used water through the drainage way smoothly. On the other hand, a weight 160 such as metal is inserted in the inside of the sleeve 140 which is connected to the lower part of the pop-up valve 120 for opening/closing the sink-hole of the wash vessel, and the ball-shaped portion 170, which is engaged with and detached from the pop-up valve 120 by means of a screw, is formed on the lower part of the sleeve 140. Therefore, when pushing up the pop-up lever 180, the other end of the lever 190 connected to the pop-up lever is moved down toward its original position. At this time, the sleeve 140 is moved down together with the pop-up valve 120 by the weight 160 in the sleeve to close the sink-hole of the wash vessel. The pop-up valve 120 for opening/closing the sink-hole(or the drainage way) and the sleeve 140 are constructed as one body. At this time, as the sleeve 140 is inserted in the cylinder-shaped drainage-guiding pipe 200 which is connected to the lower part of the drainpipe, a fixing element 210 is inserted and fixed in the lower part of the drainage-guiding pipe 200, and protruding parts 220's, which have a inclined portion 221 inclined downwardly, are formed on the inner circumference of the upper part of the fixing element 210, the ball-shaped portion 170, which is positioned on the lower portion of the sleeve 140, is inserted into the space 222 under the protruding part 220 of the fixing element to be moved up and down by the lever 190. The fixing element 210, which is provided with protruding parts 220 formed on the inner circumference of the upper part thereof, and the drainage-guiding pipe 200 are formed as a one metal body. Further, the ball-shaped portion 170 positioned the lower portion of the sleeve 140 is easily inserted into the space 222 through the inclined portion 221 , which is formed on the protruding part 220 of the fixing element 210, by pushing the pop-up valve 120 strongly, and then, the ball-shaped portion is fixed by the protruding part 220 to be not drawn. As shown in Fig. 5, one end of the lever 190, which is in contact with the lower part of the sleeve 140 to lift up and down the sleeve 140, is provided with the spherical-shaped rotating means 230 made of resin, the connecting part 240 is installed in parallel on one side of the drainpipe 150 in which one end of the lever 190 is inserted, and the rotating means jointing part 250, which is made of resin, for rotating the rotating means 230 is inserted in the inside of the connecting means 240. As the spherical groove 251 is formed in the jointing part, the spherical-shaped rotating means 230 for controlling the lever 190 is tightly inserted into the spherical groove 251 of the rotating means jointing part 250. Therefore, when the other end of the lever 190 pushes the ball-shaped portion 170 up, the ball-shaped portion can maintains the pushed up state. In particular, as the top and bottom holes for controlling the up and down movement of the lever 190 is formed on one end of the spherical groove 251 of the rotating means jointing portion 250, and the lever through hole 252 having
8-shaped section is formed, the lever 190 pushed the sleeve 140 up when the lever is position on the upper part of the lever through hole and is fixed, and the sleeve 140 is moved down by its weight when the lever 190 is position on the lower part of the lever through hole. As shown in Fig. 4, as the ball-shaped portion 170 of the moved down sleeve 140 is spaced apart with a certain distance, a foreign material such as hair is prevented from being put between the ball-shaped portion 170 and the lever
190. In particular, the sleeve 140, which is lifted up together with the pop-up valve 120, is moved up until the ball-shaped portion 170 of the sleeve is stopped by the protruding part 220 of the fixing element 210 to project the sleeve 140 out of the sink-hole sufficiently. Therefore, it is easily to remove the foreign material caught in the sleeve 140. Further, as the other end of the lever 190 is position in the drainpipe 150 with downwardly inclined state, the foreign material such as hair can be easily discharged with the used water even though the foreign material is caught in the lever 190. The device for automatically opening/closing the pop-up valve is described with the pop-up valve 120 as an example, the device for automatically opening/closing the pop-up valve can, however, be installed on the lever 9 which opens/closes the pop-up valve 2 for the conventional pop-up valve assembly, but, this is not understood to restrict the scope of the present invention. First, the manual operation, that is, pushing up and down the pop-up lever 370 is well known in the art, thus its detail description will be omitted. When discharging the used water in wash vessel through the sink-hole, the sensor switch 351 b as the switching means 351 is touched and automatically operated, or the mechanical push switch 351a is pushed. A signal is inputted to the microprocessor of the control box 350 by the operation of the switching means 351. Electricity is supplied to the motors 320, 330 and 340 under the control of the microprocessor to drive the motors to a certain direction. Then, the moving up and down axis 322 is lifted up to pull the lever 190, or the screw gear 333 moves the connecting means 334 up or the rotating plate 345 is rotated to move the connecting means 336 up to pull the lever 190. When the lever 190 is pulled down, the end, which is toward the sleeve, of the lever lift the sleeve and the pop-up valve 120 to open the sink-hole. When closing the sink-hole in order to use the wash vessel, the sensor switch 351b as the switching means 351 is touched, or the mechanical push switch 351a is pushed. At this time, the microprocessor 354 stores the just prior operation of the switching means 351 , and a reverse current, which is opposite to the current supplied to the motors 320, 330 and 340 by the just prior operation of the switching means 351 , is applied to the motors to operate the motors to reverse direction. As the operation of the motors is reverse to the above description, the one end of the lever 190 is moved up and the other end is moved down. Therefore, the sleeve is moved down to close the sink-hole with the pop-up valve.
Industrial Applicability With the above description, according to the present invention, the pop-up valve assembly for wash vessel prevents the foreign material such as hair from being caught in the sleeve and the lever to close the sink-hole when the used water is discharged. While the present invention has been described and illustrated herein with reference to the preferred embodiments thereof, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Thus, it is intended that the present invention covers the modifications and variations of this invention that come within the scope of the appended claims and their equivalents.
