Abstract

The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus of initiating and sustaining a cold fusion process to generate energy comprising subjecting deuterium atoms contained in a deuterium rich system capable of having a PF of at least 0.5 to alpha radiation derived from an external source to initiate fusion of deuterium atoms and controlling the total energy output of said system and the nuclear fusion of deuterium by varying the number of alpha particles externally supplied to the deuterium rich system while maintaining the system PF at from 0.5 to 1.
