Abstract

The invented object is a hand-held shower head comprised of a ring (3) located around the edge of the strainer with a cleaning surface on the frontal side (5) and/or the lateral side of the ring. The ring (5) can be permanently connected with, or be separable from, the shower head. In the invention design, the shower head can contain an active cleaning surface in form of a brush, a natural or synthetic sponge, an abrasive material, a textile washcloth, a plastic and/or metal net, at least one metal and/or plastic blade or a scroll of metal shavings.

Description

The Shower Head
The invention consists of the design for a shower head with a replaceable or permanent ring that can serve a variety of piuposes. This device may be useful in housekeeping, services and industry.
Shower devices already exist that are designed for varying the stream of water used in washing and cleaning. Also, a variety of handgrips equipped with a brush or sponge (instead of a strainer) are common in hand-operated washing devices. Some of these devices can be mounted onto the end of a water hose.
According to the said invention, the shower head is equipped wit a ring located irnmediately adjacent to the edge of the strainer, with an active cleaning surface on the frontal and/or the lateral surface of the said ring.
According to the said invention, the cleaning ring on the shower head is either permanently attached or replaceable.
According to the said invention, the shower head is equipped with a cleaning ring with a brush surface.
In variant (2) of the said invention, the shower head is equipped with a cleaning ring with a natural or synthetic sponge.
In variant (3) of the said invention, the cleaning ring on the shower head has an active surface consisting of an abrasive material (e.g., pumice).
In variant (4) of the said invention, the cleaning surface of the shower head ring is covered with a textile washcloth.
In variant (5) of the said invention, the cleaning surface of the ring is covered by a plastic or wire netting.
In variant (6) of the said invention, the cleaning surface of the ring is equipped with at least one metal or plastic blade.
In variant (7) of the said invention, the cleaning surface of the ring may be covered by a roll of metal shavings.
The said design in a simple manner enables the application of an easily exchangeable ring with a cleaning surface made of a deliberately selected material. The kind of the active surface depends on the intended function. The said design enables removing stains or dirt of various kinds, scrubbing various, surfaces, washing, massaging or wiping while simultaneously rinsing the same spot with water. These activities can be perfoπned simultaneously using a single hand and a single device.
The said design in the form pf a ring with an active cleaning surface (a sponge, a brush, an abrasive material, textile or other material) is permanently or exchangeably attached between the shower head cover and the strainer. Washers may be installed between individual parts.
The simple and functional inserts or attachments located on the shower head transform it into a universal device for washing or scrubbing by means of a single hand.
The installation of a cleaning ring within the shower head results in a multifunctional device which enables new applications in everyday life as well as in services and industry. The device may be equipped with an extension of the existing shower head handle in order to make washing, scrubbing or massage of less accessible sites or areas more convenient.
Attachment of the cleaning ring to the body of the shower head can be permanent or detachable. In the case of detachable rings, the fixing mechanism can be a screw, usually located in the center of the shower head body. This attachment may also be achieved by a screw thread, a snap-fastener, a bayonet lock, a press-in mechanism or another deliberate technique. The ring may be screwed, pressed in or installed outside or inside of the shower head.
The permanent connection of the ring with the remaining parts of the shower head may be achieved by gluing or welding of individual components of the system. The cleaning ring inay also be connected to the shower head by clamping them together by means of an elastic band.
The exchangeable form of the cleaning ring enables the simple exchange of this element and, therefore, an easy transformation of its function.
It enables an application of a specific cleaning ring depending upon current needs. The application of the given invented design eliminates the need of using a second hand while cleaning. This solution may be especially useful for handicapped people with limited motility.
The cleaning ring may be made of water/solvent-resistant material and be provided with different active surfaces. It is functional, cheap and can be installed in different existing shower heads as well as in other newly designed devices. The said invention is easily kept clean.
Examples of the designs are presented on the enclosed figures, where:
Fig. 1 presents a shower head with a ring (3), located between the cover of the shower head (1) and the strainer (2), fixed to the head by means of a screw (6) in the central axis of the shower head, while Fig. 2 presents a shower head with a ring (3) with both the front (4) and the side (5) surfaces active, and a strainer (2) screwed on the thread of the shower head (1) equipped with an intermediate collar-type ring (7).
Fig. 3 presents a shower head (1) with a ring (3) and a strainer (2) fixed by means of a screw in the center of the shower head, where the ring (3) is installed in the shield of the head (1).
Fig. 4 presents the ring (3) with a lateral active surface (5), placed between the strainer and the head.
Fig. 5 presents a design where the ring is installed in the shower head (1).
Fig. 6 presents a ring screwed onto the strainer.
Fig. 7 presents an elastic band clamping the shower head and a frontal surface cleaning ring together. The band has to be pulled over both parts.
Fig. 8 presents an extension of the shower head handle.
Example 1. A ring (3) made of metal with a diameter equal to the diameter of the shower head, with an abrasive active surface (4) on the circumference, preferably pumice. The ring is fixed by screwing it together with the strainer (2) by means of a screw (6) located in the center of the strainer, producing a new cleaning device. Ring-shaped Washers are located between the adjacent surfaces. Excessive cuticle can be rubbed off by circular movements of the head and, simultaneously, showered off with water.
Example 2. The shower head is equipped with a plastic ring (3) with both the frontal and lateral surface active. The ring is permanently attached by welding during the manufacture process.
The frontal (4) and lateral (5) cleaning surface is equipped with a brush. The shower head can be used in various industrial cleaning processes, for example for cleaning dishes and cooking equipment in food production.
Example 3. The ring with an active frontal surface (4) covered with a washcloth is fixed by pushing it into the shower head. After extending the handle of the shower head by means of a screwed-in extension, the shower may be used for daily hygiene by anyone, including handicapped people.
Example 4. A metal ring, connected by screwing it into the shower head, has the active cleaning surface covered by blades.
Example 5. The shower head contains a cleaning ring with the active surface [(4) and (5)] in the form of a sponge. The ring is fixed by screwing it onto the shower head from the outside.
Example 6. The shower head contains a cleaning ring with the active surface in the form of a sponge. The ring is fixed using a snap-on latch.

Claims

Example 7. A ring with the lateral cleaning surface in the form of a sponge and the frontal surface in the foπn of an abrasive material is fixed to the shower head by pressing it in. Surfaces can be cleaned or polished while being simultaneously rinsed with water or another cleaning fluid.Patent Claims
