A SYSTEM FOR ORGANIZING AND MONITORING THE USE OF A RESERVED ROOM A METHOD FOR ORGANIZING AND MONITORING A RESERVE ROOM
The present invention relates to a system for organizing and 5 monitoring of a reserved room in order to optimize the use of said room in a simple and organized way. Description of the State of the Art Usually in public places where a crowd of people agglomerate, the demand for the use of a certain room, such as, for example, a ticket 10 booth or toilet, can place the users in a tumultuous and uncomfortable situation. The organization of such places, or even inside transport means as airplanes and buses, can become a huge inconvenience for the users, as well as for the transport companies, since the unpleased user will 15 certainly not use its services any longer. A number of solutions for organizing people in a certain place has already been implemented, such as for example the distribution of individual passwords for everyone and the later warning through electronic warning signs in the ticket booth indicating the direction the person should go 20 to. This solution presents a few inconveniences, such as for example the violation of the password, that is to say, one gets more than one password and disturbs the whole process; the register of the used password by the ticket booth attendant in a computer system, for some other attendant 25 or even the same one call the next password; a poor signaling to ticket booth localization, and the like. All these inconveniences cause the user waste of time and of patience in the queue and/or the seats, bringing about their dissatisfaction with the service. 30 In toilets located in airplanes and/or buses, the signaling also is precarious, since the user has to stand up and walk as far as the reserved room to verify if the warning sign is on or even the indication "occupied" is
shown on the locking means. The only indication in this sense summarizes in a light sign that points out that all toilets are occupied. It causes inconveniences to the other passengers, once the user that is sitting on the external row, that is to say, next to the window, he / she will have to bother the passenger sitting on his / her side many times until he / she can find the non-occupied toilet. Besides, longstanding trips and high concentration of passengers inside the transport means can bring about the crowd of toilets available for use. Finally, the objectives of the present invention are attained by a transport means that comprises the system for organizing and monitoring the use of a reserved room. Brief Description of the Drawings A more detailed description of the present invention will be given below based on an example of realization shown in the drawings. The figures are as follows: Figure 1 - is a schematic view of the system for organizing and monitoring the use of a reserved room according to the present invention; Figure 2 - is a detailed view of the monitoring interface showing the localization of the reserved room; Figure 3 - is a first example of the arrangement of the monitoring interface and passenger; Figure 4 - is a second example of the arrangement of the monitoring interface and passenger; and Figure 5 - is a pictorial view of the passenger entering the reserved room. Detailed Description of the Figures According to a preferred embodiment and as shown in figure 1 , a system for organizing the use 1 of a reserved room 2 located inside a transport means, preferably an airplane, but the installation of system 1 can be provided on buses, trains, ships, and the like, is provided in order to optimize the use of such reserved room 1 in a simple and organized way.
A reserved room 2 is provided with a door 2a, a locking means 2b and warning signs 6. The reserved room 2 is preferably a toilet, but any other arrangement may be provided as well. In general, the system 1 allows the passenger, at the time a requesting means 3a is actuated, to have his / her seat number 5 moved on to a virtual queue immediately, where a processing unit 4 monitors the reserved room 2 and the passengers requests at the same time. As soon as a reserved room 2 is free to be used, the processing unit 4 calls the next passenger and he / she is helped by the monitoring interface 3 that indicates the way to go and place to get to. Such a system 1 will be detailed and better explained hereinafter. The transport means is provided with a plurality of seats 5 for accommodating the passengers. In the present fleet of airplanes, the majority of the air companies provides each passenger with the comfort of using monitoring interfaces 3, which are preferably liquid crystal displays wherein the passenger watches movies and is provided with instructions on the trip. The main object of the system 1 of the present invention is the connection between the monitoring interface 3 and the use of the reserved room 2. The monitoring interfaces 3 are disposed on the arm rests of the seats, or can be disposed in the internal portion of the ceiling of the transport means, on the back part of the seat located right in front temporary of the passenger or also a single interface 3 for all passengers. Other arrangements can be used, provided that they satisfy the needs of the present invention, that is, they can be easily accessed by the passenger. In order to eliminate all the inconveniences of the state of the art, the present invention provides a system 1 that comprises a reserved room 2, a monitoring interface 3 and a processing unit 4, operatively connected to one another. The communication among the reserved room 2, the monitoring interface 3 and the processing unit 4 is carried out by electric signals, but it can be any other provided that it is functional and according to the teachings of the present invention, such as for example pulses, bytes, etc.
The passenger can access a requesting means 3a that can be provided on the screen of the monitoring interface 3 by means of his/ her touching the screen, or even on the seat 5 by means of a button, used for example in the event the airplane is provided with a single monitoring interface 3. The passenger can sitting or standing when he / she actuates the requesting means 3a so that he / she can use the reserved room 2. As soon as the requesting means 3a is actuated, a signal is sent to the processing unit 4 that compares same with the signals from the reserved room 2, which signals will be explained hereinafter, and effects a connection between the actuation and the seat number 5 where the request came from. If there is more than one request for using the reserved room 2, the processing unit 4 organizes a queue for controlling the use in the order the requesting means 3a was actuated. Preferably, the stewardess or any member of the crew of the transport means also can make use of a monitoring interface 3 that comprises the requesting means 3a, or even only the requesting means 3a without the monitoring interface 3. In this arrangement of the invention, the monitoring interface 3 can be placed, for example, by the kitchen of the transport means, or even by the stewardess seat, and at least one of these requesting means 3a can be provided inside the transport means. The function of the monitoring interface 3 of the stewardess is to monitor the use of the reserved room 2, as well as use the requesting means 3a for special requests of the passengers, such as for example old age people and children, or even passengers with some type of disease, in the event the queue is too long. In addition, the stewardess can block the use of a reserved room 2 through the monitoring interface 3, for an eventual maintenance, cleanness, and the like, during the trip. Other arrangements for organizing the requesting orders can be provided, such as for example in the case of old age people, children as well as special cases, when the requesting means 3a can be configured at
the time the ticket is bought so that the passenger is allowed a higher priority that the others. After comparing the request signal, that will be explained hereinafter, that came from the reserved room 2, the processing unit 4 sends a signal confirming the reserved room 2 is cleared to the screen of the monitoring interface 3, informing the passenger about the exact location of the place and establishing a period of time while said place will be available for him / her. This period of time is necessary, because if the passenger gives up using the reserved room 2, or in the event he / she is resting, the processing unit 4 directs the next passenger to the order of calls. Devices for canceling requests can be provided, and the period of time to reach reserved room 2 can be configured too, taking into consideration special passengers, such as old age people. As soon as he / she reached the reserved room 2, the passenger sees a warning sign 6 indicating that the reserved room is free for use, or a display 6 can be provided for showing his / her seat number 5 to prevent the use of the reserved room 2 by another passenger. Other ways to prevent the use of the reserved room by another passenger can be provided, such as for example a bar code reader for identifying the boarding pass and thus the processing unit 4 compares the code with the seat 5 occupied immediately and sets open the door 2a of the reserved room 2. When the passenger enters the reserved room 2, he / she actuates the locking means 2b and thus the internal light is turned on. The voltage that feeds the light also generates a signal that is sent to the processing unit 4, wherein said reserved room 2 is freed for use, until the light of the reserved room 2 is turned off and consequently the locking means 2b is set open. Isolated cases, such as for example, in the event the passenger gets his / her clothes caught in the door 2a, or even if he / she is at a mess when trying to lock same may take place and, therefore, after the locking means 2b is released, a timer in the processing unit 4 is turned on to
allow for to a tolerance period of time if the passenger wishes to lock the door 2b again. Said timer is programmable and it should be programmed with a reasonable period of time for such operations that may not interfere with the good use of the reserved room 2, such as a few seconds. When the locking means 2b is opened and consequently the door 2a, after the tolerance period is over, the signal is sent to the processing unit 4, wherein the clearing of reserved room 2 is acknowledged immediately and the next passenger in the queue can access same. In addition, members for detecting the use of the reserved room 2, such as for example movement detectors can be provided. For accomplishment the monitoring and organization of the use of the reserved room 2, the present invention additionally provides a method for such accomplishment. The method comprises the steps of monitoring by the processing unit 4 the actuation of the requesting means 3a provided in seats
5, storing the requests of passengers through the requesting means 3a in the processing unit 4, and organizing a queue of requests for controlling the use of the reserved room 2. The processing unit 4 receives the requests of passengers through the requesting means 3a and organizes the queue of the requests for using the reserved room 2 and shows the availability for using of the reserved room 2 through the monitoring interface 3. After the step wherein a passenger makes a request, a step is provided wherein the localization of a reserved room 2 that is available for use is shown in the monitoring interface 3. In the step wherein it is shown that the reserved room 2 is available for use, the processing unit 4 warns the passenger who has made the request as soon as the reserved room 2 is available for use. At this step, the passenger will be able to see where the reserved room 2 is located, as illustrated in figure 2. After the passenger who has made the request enters the reserved room 2, a step is provided wherein a signal is sent from the
reserved room 2 to the processing unit 4, indicating that the same is occupied. After the passenger who has made the request leaves the reserved room 2, the processing unit 4 receives a signal indicating that the reserved room 2 is not occupied any longer. Even though an example of the preferred embodiment has been described, it should be understood that the scope of the present invention encompasses other possible variations, being limited only by the contents of the accompanying claims, wherein the possible equivalents are included.
