Abstract

L'invention porte sur un système d'absorption, d'extraction ou d'utilisation de l'énergie des vagues naturelle pour sa propulsion. L'invention a pour but d'apporter une amélioration aux brise-lames existants qui étaient enclins à se perforer ou dont les coûts d'entretien étaient élevés, ou encore qui étaient dépendants d'une inertie ou qui étaient très lourds à ancrer. Le brise-lames de l'invention comprend des première et des seconde structures (100, 102) disposées sensiblement parallèles entre elles, et entre ces structures, ayant une flottabilité neutre, sont montés des absorbeurs d'énergie (111). En utilisation, les dispositifs absorbent l'énergie provenant des vagues incidentes résultant d'un mouvement relatif entre les structures. De préférence, une troisième structure est positionnée parallèle à la deuxième structure, et un second absorbeur d'énergie est positionné entre les deuxième et troisième structures. Les absorbeurs d'énergie peuvent être agencés de façon à générer une force électromotrice ou pomper un matériau ou un fluide. De manière avantageuse, une pluralité de dispositifs (206) peuvent être raccordés sous forme d'une chaîne pou d'une chenille afin de former un système de brise-lames. D'autres formes d'exécution de cette invention peuvent comprendre un système pour alléger les lourdes charges latérales sur des navires multicoques, et un dispositif de propulsion dans lequel les première et deuxième structures comprennent des ensembles clapets et déflecteurs.
