[29] According to the present invention, a lighter for use as an accessory for a mobile phone (10) comprises: [30] a housing (1) in the form of a hollow case having a heat discharging hole (11) on the front side thereof ; [31] a printed circuit board (2) contained in the housing (1) and provided with parts for the lighter thereon; [32] a heat emitting means (3) mounted on the printed circuit board (2) to emit heat by the supply of voltage from a battery (101) of the mobile phone (10); [33] a protective cap (8) provided bove the heat emitting means (3) to be fitted to the heat discharging hole (11) of the housing (1) in order to protect the heat emitting means (3) and to prevent entrance of foreign materials into the housing (1); and [34] a connector (5) provided to be fixed at one side end of the printed circuit board (2) to protrude outside of the housing (1) and to be connected to a power supply connector (102) of the mobile phone (10). [35] According to the present invention, an auxiliary housing (7) ma be further provided on the opposite side of the housing (1) to be detachcbly fitted to the housing (1), so that the connector (5) can be accommodated therein. The auxiliary housing (7) is provided with a cover (71) integrally formed therewith and extended to cover the heat emitting means (3) and the protective cap (8).
[36] In addition, a loop (13 or 72) having a cord or string (6) knotted thereon may optionally be provided at one end of the housing (1) or the auxiliary housing (7), so that the housing (1) itself or the auxiliary housing (7) can be connected through the cord or string (6) to a cord link (103) of the mobile phone (10) or to a cord or string for suspending the mobile phone (10) on the user's neck (not shown). By means of the loop (13 or 72) and the cord (6), the lighter can be carried along with the mobile phone (10) as an accessory.
[37] The lighter according to the present invention further comprises a switch (4) to control power supply.
[38] The switch (4) is to control the supply of voltage between the connector (5) of the lighter and the heat emitting means (3) and it comprises a knob (41) and a contact point (42). The knob (41) is protruded outside of an ejection hole (12) formed at one end of the housing (1), and the contact point (42) is fixably provided at the opposite end of the connector (5) on the printed circuit board (2).
[39] The housing (1) may be formed in an integral single body or two separate pieces by injection molding.
[40] In one embodiment of the present invention as shown in Fig. 2, the housing (1) is in the form of a hollow case and comprises an exterior case (14) having the heat discharging hole (11) on the front surface thereof and having an open bottom part; and a pair of upper and lower covers (15) detachcbly fitted into the open bottom part of the exterior case (14) and enclosing the printed circuit board (2) to prevent movement of the printed circuit board (2), with the connector (5) of the lighter not being enclosed by the covers (15) and exposed outside of the housing (1).
[41] Acting effects of the lighter according to the present invention will be described below in more detail.
[42] The lighter of the present invention is manuiactured in a small size to be used as an accessory for the mobile phone, so that the housing (1) itself or the auxiliary housing (7) of the lighter can be connected to a cord link (103) of the mobile phone (10) or to a cord or string for suspending the mobile phone (10) on the user's neck.
[43] As shown in Rgs. 1 to 4, the loop (13 or 72) is optionally formed at the end of the housing (1) or the auxiliary housing (7), and thus the housing (1) itself or the auxiliary housing (7) is connected through the cord or string (6) to a cord link (103) of the mobile phone (10) or to a cord or string for suspending the mobile phone (10) on the user's neck. Therefore, it becomes possible to carry along the lighter with the mobile phone (10) as an accessory thereof, and it is very unlikely to lose the lighter.
[44] In addition, the housing (1) is molded by injection in the form of a hollow case having an open bottom part so that the printed circuit board (2) can be inserted thereto. The housing (1) also includes the heat discharging hole (11) on the front suriace thereof.
[45] When a cigarette is to be lighted and the lighter of the present invention is connected to the mobile phone (10) through the connector (5), the heat generated from the heat emitting means (3) light the cigarette through the heat discharging hole (11).
[46] In order to prevent the heat emitting means (3) from being exposed to the outside through the heat discharging hole (11) and to prevent entrance of foreign materials into the housing (1), the protective cap (8) is provided over the heat emitting means (3) and is fitted to the heat discharging hole (11). Therefore, the protective cap (8) prevents deformation of the heat emitting means (3) due to an external pressure or any other external environment.
[47] On the printed circuit board (2), the heat emitting means (3) such as nichrome wire and the connector (5) connected to the electric source are primarily provided at predetermined positions, and the printed circuit board (2) composed as such is fitted into the housing (1).
[48] Optionally, the switch (4) can be further provided on the printed circuit board (2) to control the supply of power between the connector (5) and the heat emitting means (3).
[49] Referring to Rg. 2 and Fig. 6, a pair of terminals (31) having relatively large suriace area are provided at both side ends of the heat emitting means (3) and fixed on the printed circuit board (2), so that the heat from the heat emitting means (3) can be prevented from being transmitted to the printed circuit board (2) and the connector (5).
[50] In regard to the switch (4), the knob (41) is protruded through the ejection hole (12) formed on the housing (1), and the contact point (42) is fixed at the opposite end of the connector (5) on the printed circuit board (2).
[51] The connector (5) is arranged to protrude out of the opening bottom part of the housing (1), and when using the lighter, it can be easily connected to the power supply connector (102) of the mobile phone (10).
[52] If the lighter is not provided with the switch (4), since the heat emitting means (3) is operated only while the connector (5) of the lighter is coupled with the power supply connector (102) of the mobile phone (10), the lighter should be separated from the mobile phone (10) as soon as the cigarette is lighted, in order to prevent the damage of the heat emitting means (3) due to overheating.
[53] Therefore, in one embodiment of the present invention, the switch (4) to control the supply of electricity between the connector (5) of the lighter and the heat emitting means (3) is further provided as shown in Fig. 7.
[54] As shown in Rg. 6, only while the switch (4) is 'ON', the heat emitting means (3) is operated to generate heat by the power supply from the battery (101) of the mobile phone (10).
[55] Besides, a temperature sensor, a timer, etc., not shown, can be used as a means to prevent overheating of the heat emitting means (3).
[56] In the event that a temperature sensor is used, if the temperature of the heat emitting means (3) reaches a specific temperature preset by the sensor, the power supply from the temperature sensor to the heat emitting means (3) is temporarily cut off, so that the damage of the heat emitting means (3) due to overheating can be prevented.
[57] Also, in the event that a timer is used, the voltage is supplied to the heat emitting means (3) only for a time preset by the timer, regardless of the state of the switch, so that the damage of the heat emitting means (3) due to overheating can be prevented.
[58] Meanwhile, since the power supply connector (102) of the mobile phone (10) is usually formed in the shape of a female connector, the connector (5) of the lighter is formed in the shape of a male connector, to be engaged with the power supply connector (102) of the mobile phone (10).
[59] As the connector (5) is in the form of a male connector protruding outside of the housing (1), foreign materials can contaminate or damage the connector (5) while the lighter is carried along with the mobile phone (10) as an accessory. Thus, in an embodiment of the present invention, the auxiliary housing (7) detachcbly fitted with the connector (5) is provided to cover the connector (5).
[60] Further, t he auxiliary housing (7) is provided with the cover (71) integrally formed therewith and extended to cover the heat emitting means (3) and the protective cap (8). Without the cover (71) of the auxiliary housing (7), various foreign materials could enter the housing (1) through an opening formed in the protective cap (8), and the heat emitting means (3) could be exposed outside and thus damaged to be deformed.
[61] In addition, trademarks or logos indicating manuiacturers or distributors can be attached or marked on the top suriace of the cover (71). Also, in order to reduce noise or prevent damage generated by the collision of the lighter and the mobile phone while they are carried together, a buffering member may be attached to any suriace of the lighter and the mobile phone.
[62] As described above, according to the present invention, a lighter compatible with a mobile phone is provided, which is normally carried along with the mobile phone by a coupling cord and is simply connected to it to light a cigarette, thus improving convenience of smokers considerably.
[63] Also, according to the present invention, a lighter for use as an accessory for a mobile phone is provided, which uses voltage from a battery of the mobile phone as a source of power of its heat emitting means, and thus overheating and damage of the heat emitting means can be prevented and the life of the lighter can considerably be extended.
[64] Further, a lighter compatible with a mobile phone according to the present invention can be simply used without regard to place and time and can be used without fuel.
[65] It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made to the present invention without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. The present invention covers the modifications and variations thereof provided they come within the scope of the appended claims and their equivalents.
