Abstract

An improved system and method for coupling to a sensor for detecting a very wide range of signal frequencies employs a synthetic ground (Synthetic Ground) equal to the DC offset voltage. The synthetic ground Synthetic Ground) is established by the choice of the load resistance that the piezo-electric transducer must drive and the op-amp in the first stage of amplification (103). Novel coupling circuitry is provided to remove the offset, allowing coupling of a piezo transducer to a very broad-band amplifier chain.
