Abstract
A cemented carbide blank (20) for electric discharge machining includes a carbide phase having tungsten carbide (and optionally vanadium carbide) in an amount between 77.7 weight percent and 93.6 weight percent. It further includes between about 0.3 weight percent and about 1.5 weight percent chromium, between about 8 weight percent and about 17 weight percent cobalt, 0 weight percent up to about 5 weight percent nickel, and between about 0.1 weight percent and about 1.0 weight percent molybdenum. The cemented carbide blank having a magnetic saturation ranging between 151 x 10-6 T m3 / kilogram and 182 x 10-6 T m3 / kilogram cobalt.
