SKIVING MACHINE FOR LEATHER
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a skiving machine for leather capable
of cutting a cutting portion of a leather piece at a slanted angle, and in particular
to a skiving machine for leather capable of enhancing a quality and productivity
of a leather product by achieving a smooth transfer and precise cutting in such
a manner that a pressing member (so called, deer foot) supporting leather and
a support (so called, jacket) determining a cutting width are formed in a roller
type when cutting a cutting portion of leather at a slanted angle.
Background Art
In order to fabricate a product such as a shoe, bag, footwear, etc. using
leather, wide leather is cut into multiple leather pieces each having a certain
shape, and a cutting portion of each leather piece is cut at a slanted angle. The
cut portions are bonded using bond or are connected by a sewing method.
Therefore, a certain product is finished by connecting multiple leather pieces.
The cut portions of leather pieces are cut for the reasons that the
connected portions may be protruded as compared to other surfaces of the
other side when connecting the leather pieces and finishing one product.
Here, the work for cutting the cut portions of the leather pieces at a
slanted angle is called skiving. A skiving machine is used during the skiving
work.
A conventional skiving machine includes a skiver having a cylindrical
rotation blade, a pressing member that downwardly supports leather entering
into the skiver, and a support member that determines the width of leather to be
cut. Here, the pressing member and the support member are formed of an
integral steel material.
Therefore, in the skiving machine having the pressing member and the
support member, when the leather is transferred to the skiver having a
cylindrical rotation blade, friction occurs between the leather and the contact
surface, so that the leather is not normally transferred in its way, whereby the
leather is biased. Therefore, the cutting amount and shape are not uniform.
The above problems occur due to foreign substances or bonds attached
on the surface of the leather, the pressing member or the support member. The
above phenomenon retards a smooth transfer of the lather, and torsion is
caused in leather. Therefore, a uniform cutting is not achieved. In the case that
the leather pierces are bonded and sewed, a uniform surface is not achieved.
Namely, a defective product having protruded portions is fabricated.
In addition, sometimes, the leather pieces may be stuck to the pressing
member or the support member based on the kinds of leathers, so that one side
of the leather has never been cut. In this case, the leather cutting work is impossible.
Disclosure of Invention
Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to overcome the
problems encountered in the conventional art. It is another object of the present invention to provide a skiving machine
for leather capable of achieving a smooth transfer and an accurate cutting
based on a rolling movement of leather, and a transfer of leather is well guided
in such a manner that a roller is installed between a pressing member and a
support member and leathers. To achieve the above objects, in a skiving machine for leather that
includes a skiver having a cylindrical rotational blade, a pressing member and a
support roller that support the transferring leather with a distance by the
thickness of the leather in the upper and lower sides of the blade of the skiver,
and a support member that supports the cutting portion of the leather cut
vertically with respect to the transferring direction of the leather and determines
the cutting width of the leather, there is provided a skiving machine for leather
that includes a pressing roller installed at a contact portion with a leather below
the pressing member; and a lateral support roller installed at a contact portion
with a cutting surface of the leather that is an end of the support member.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention The construction and operation of the present invention will be
described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
In a skiving machine 100 for leather that includes a skiver having a
cylindrical rotational blade, a pressing member 3 and a support roller 4 that
support the transferring leather 2 with a distance by the thickness of the leather
2 in the upper and lower sides of the blade of the skiver 1 , and a support
member 5 that supports the cutting portion of the leather 2 cut vertically with
respect to the transferring direction of the leather 2 and determines the cutting
width of the leather, there is provided a skiving machine for leather, comprising
a pressing roller 6 installed at a contact portion with a leather 2 below the
pressing member 3; and a lateral support roller 7 installed at a contact portion
with a cutting surface of the leather 2 that is an end of the support member 5. The pressing roller 6 has the same curvature rotation surface as an
outer diameter of the blade of the skiver 1.
In the drawings, reference numeral 8 represents a transfer groove
formed in the support member 5, and 9 represents a fixing bolt engaged to the
transfer groove for fixing the support member 5. In the skiving machine 100 according to the present invention, the
pressing roller 6 and the lateral side support roller 7 are installed in the pressing
member 3 and the support member 5, respectively, achieving a smooth transfer
of the leather 2.
In the skiving machine 100 according to the present invention, the
connected portions are not protruded when connecting the multiple leather
pieces 2 by cutting the sewing portions of the leathers for thereby achieving a
smooth surface. Here, the skiver 1 having a cylindrical blade cuts the cutting
portions of the leathers 2, and as shown in Figure 2, the sliver 1 is driven by the
rotation of the driving apparatus.
The leathers 2 are cut, while being moved to the skiver 1. The leather 2
is transferred by the support roller 4 between the upper portion of the support
roller 4 and the pressing member 3.
The cutting width of the leather 2 is determined by the support member
5. The transfer groove 8 is longitudinally formed in the support member 5, so
that it is adjustable. The fixing bolt 9 is engaged to the transfer groove 8, so that
the cutting width of the leather 2 is determined. As shown in Figure 4, since the
cutting portion of the leather 2 contacts with the support member 5, so that the
leather 2 stops its moving toward the support member 5, whereby the cutting
width is determined.
The leather 2 is cut by the skiver, while being moved. At this time, the
pressing member 3 allows a smooth cutting of the leather by pressing the
leather from the upper side. Figures 3 and 7 show the roles of the pressing
member 3 and the support member 5.
In order to cut the cutting portions at a slanted angle, when the leather 2
is pushed between the support roller 4 and the pressing member 3, the leather
2 stops its moving by the support member 5. Namely, the support member 5
plays a role of the stopper capable of determining the cutting width of the
leather 2. As shown in Figures 1 and 6, the leather 2 can be variably moved by
adjusting the fixing bolt 9 of the support member 5. As shown in Figure 6, when
the support member 5 is moved in the left direction and is fixed, the cutting
width of the leather 2 gets wider, and on the contrary, when the support member
5 is moved in the right side and is fixed, the cutting width of the same gets
narrower. The cutting portions of the leather 2 cut by the skiver 1 is shown by
the dotted lines in Figure 6.
When the leather 2 is loaded, the leather 2 is moved by the rotation of
the support roller 4. As shown in Figure 2, the support roller 4 is driven by the
same driving force as the force used for driving the skiver 1.
When the leather 2 driven by the driving of the support roller 4 reached
the blade of the skiver 1 , the skiver 1 cuts one side of the leather 2 at a slanted
angle. The slanted cutting is achieved based on the cylindrical shape of the
skiver 1. A stable and accurate cutting is achieved by the pressing member 3
that is provided on the skiver 1 and presses the leather 2.
In the operation of the skiving machine 100, the leather 2 always
contacts in the pressing member 3 and the support member 5 and is moved.
Therefore, in the present invention, the leather 2 is smoothly moved.
A pressing roller 6 is installed in a contact portion of the leather 2 of the
pressing member according to the present invention. A lateral side support roller
7 is installed at a portion contacting with the leather 2 at an end portion of the
support member 5.
Therefore, in the conventional art, a strong friction occurs based on a direct contact with the leather 2 without rollers, so that the leather 2 is not
the support member 5 is moved in the left direction and is fixed, the cutting
width of the leather 2 gets wider, and on the contrary, when the support member
A pressing roller β is installed in a contact portion of the leather 2 of the
pressing member according to the present invention. A lateral side support roller
7 is installed at a portion contacting with the leather 2 at an end portion of the
support member 5.
Therefore, in the conventional art, a strong friction occurs based on a
direct contact with the leather 2 without rollers, so that the leather 2 is not
properly moved. In particular, in the case that bonds or foreign substances are
stuck on the leather 2, the pressing member 3 or the support member 5, the
movement of the leather is retarded more badly, so that the leather 2 is badly
cut. However, in the present invention, the leather 2 is smoothly moved based
on a guide of the pressing member 6 and the lateral side support roller 7 without
any interference.
Namely, when the leather 2 is transferred, the leather 2 is supported
and guided by the pressing roller 3 installed in the pressing member 3 and the
support roller 4 installed in the lower side of the leather 2, and the leather 2 is
moved toward the skiver 1. At this time, the pressing roller 6 rolls together with
the leather 2, so that the leather 2 is effectively moved without any resistance.
Therefore, it is possible to achieve an accurate cutting surface.
The lateral side support roller 7 installed in the support member 5 also
enables a smooth transfer of the leather together with the pressing roller 6.
Namely, the support member 5 plays a role of adjusting the cutting width of the
leather. In the present invention, the lateral side support roller 7 also helps a
smooth movement of the leather 2.
As shown in Figure 7, in order to determine the cutting width of the
leather 2, the fixing bolt 9 is loosened, and the support member 5 is moved in
the left and right directions, and then the fixing bolt 9 is fixed again. In the above
state, the end portion of the leather 2 indicated by the two-dot line inserted up to
the lateral side support roller 7, so that the cutting width is determined.
When one side of the leather 2 is cut in the above manner, the cut
portions of the leathers 2 are connected and bonded, so that a uniform
thickness of the leathers 2 is obtained. Therefore, even when two leather pieces
are bonded, a good quality leather product having a uniform surface is
fabricated.
Industrial Applicability
As described above, in the present invention, the pressing roller 6 and
the lateral side support roller 7 are installed in the contact portions between the
pressing member 3 and the support member 5 and the leather 2, so that a
smooth movement of the leather 2 is achieved. One side of the leather 2 is
accurately cut, so that there are not any protrusions on the bonded portions of
the leather pieces 2. Therefore, it is possible to fabricate a good quality leather
product. The productivity is enhanced. As the present invention may be embodied in several forms without
