LIP BEAUTY PRODUCT ACTING AS LIPSTICK AND LIP LINER.
The present invention relates to a beauty product for the lips in accordance with the accompanying claims. Lipsticks and lip liners are known beauty products for lips. Lip beauty products which perform both the lipstick and lip liner function are also known: for example from WO02/ 063992 it is known to provide a product having a body defined by two parts, a first part or core acting as lipstick and the second part, surrounding the first, being used-to outline the lips. Another known solution (known from US4740097) again comprises a body having two separate parts, a first part acting as the lipstick and a second, positioned on one side of the first, to be used to outline the lips.
However, the known solutions do not enable a beauty product of the aforesaid type to be used in an optimal, simple and fast manner. For example, the aforesaid product the body of which has its first part surrounded by the second, does not enable the product to be used reliably for outlining the lips as it is cylindrical of annular cross-section in shape such as to leave smudges on the lips when used. Again, the solution in which the part for outlining the lips is positioned only on one side of the part acting as the lipstick means that both lips can be outlined only by rotating the product body through 180° after outlining the upper lip. This makes this product relatively complex and difficult to use because of the need to correctly position the lip outlining part to correspond with the limit of each lip. An object of the present invention is to provide a lip beauty product combining the lipstick and lip liner functions which is improved with respect to known solutions.
A particular object of the invention is to provide a product of the stated type which is easy to use, which does not require any rotation during use and which is hence reliable and quick in use. Another object of the invention is to provide a product of the stated type which can be used either for a decorative effect (if the lipstick is formulated as a traditional lipstick and the lip liner product does not have a barrier effect) or also for a barrier effect (obtained by a lip liner product formulated with high melting point waxes).
These and further objects which will be apparent to the expert of the art are attained by a lip beauty product in accordance with the main claim. The present invention will be more apparent from the accompanying drawing, which is provided by way of non-limiting example and in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a product according to the invention; Figure 2 is a side view of the product of Figure 1; Figure 3 is a view from above of the product of Figure 1 ;
Figure 4 is a view showing the lips during a first stage in . the use of the invention; Figure 5 is a view showing the lips during a second stage in the use of the invention.
With reference to said figures, a beauty product according to the invention comprises an elongate body 1 supported by an element 2 which also acts as the element for gripping said body and for manipulating it on the lips 3 and 4 of a user. The body 1 presents a longitudinal axis W and a quadrilateral polygonal cross-section. Preferably, but not limitatively, this body has two flat or substantially flat opposing faces 6 and 7 and two opposing faces 8 and 9 of curved surface joining the faces 6 and 7 together. For this reason, an upper surface 10 of the body 1 which is to make contact with the lips 3 and 4 has a perimeter defined by curvilinear sides 13 and 14 joining together rectilinear sides. The surface 10 preferably defines with the axis W an angle other than 90°.
The faces of curved surface 8 and 9 pertain to parts 15 and 16 of the body 1 defined by products of known type for outlining the lips 3 and 4. The flat surfaces 6 and 7 instead pertain to a part 17 of the body 1 interposed between the parts 15 and 16, separating these latter and defined by a product acting as lipstick and obtained in known manner. The parts 15 and 16 are separated from the (central) part 17 by separation planes 19, 20 respectively, but because of the different (known) chemical composition of the beauty products which define them, they cannot mix.
By virtue of the "three part" configuration of the body 1, use of the beauty product either as lipstick or as lip liner is simple and reliable. In this respect, in passing for example the upper surface 10 of the body 1 over the upper lip 3, both the lipstick of the upper part 17 and the lip liner product of the part 15 is
deposited on it. Then at the edge of the lip, on transferring the surface 10 onto the lower lip 4 without rotating the body 1, both the lipstick of the part 17 and the lip liner of the part 16 are deposited on the lip 4 by a movement in the opposite direction to that followed for the lip 3. It is evidently possible to firstly deposit just the lipstick on the lips and then outline them, without however rotating the body 1 about its axis W.
Moreover, as the curvilinear sides 13 and 14 of the parts 15 and 16 terminate with a cusp when they encounter the rectilinear sides 11 and 12 of the part 17 (the planes 19 and 20 terminating in correspondence with opposing cusps), deposition of the lip liner product takes place without smudging and in such a manner as to properly "close" the lip outlines on the sides of the mouth. The body 1 can be of other than the described cylindrical shape; for example cone-frustum or with different cross-sections while maintaining the curved shape of those sides of the lip contacting surface which pertain to the parts defined by the lip liner products while rnaintaining a ratio (measured in any cross-sectional plane of the body 1 parallel to the surface 10) of each part 15 and 16 to the part 17 which lies between 15% and 25% of the total cross- sectional area, preferably between 15% and 20%. It should be noted that the various products (lipstick and lip liner) are formed of particular known compositions which cannot mix together.
