Abstract

The invention relates to an operating device for appliances, machines and/or vehicles, said device comprising concrete operating elements, a screen arranged in the visual field of the operator, and a screen display that can be modified according to the actuation of the respective operating element. According to the invention, a sensor mechanism is associated with the operating elements, for detecting the presence and/or movement of the operator in the vicinity of the respective operating element in a contactless manner. The screen display then reproduces information about the function that can be operated by the operating element.
