Abstract

L'invention concerne un dispositif défensif pare-balles constitué de couches d'un matériau pare-balles appliquées les unes sur les autres et reliées le long de leur bord périphérique à un châssis afin de former un bouclier plat. Le bouclier ainsi obtenu fonctionne de façon que le matériau pare-balles en couche se déforme sous l'impact d'une balle, dissipant ainsi la force de la balle, et de façon que le matériau, lorsqu'il se dilate, fasse passer la force de la balle d'un mode de cisaillement à un mode de traction. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, l'invention est incorporée dans une boîte destinée à être utilisée par les agents de police afin de se protéger contre les blessures à la tête, au cou et aux mains infligées par des balles tirées à bout portant par des armes de poing depuis des véhicules. La boîte pare-balles portative contient des documents et des instruments pour écrire et le matériau pare-balles, qui est situé à l'intérieur de la boîte, est conçu pour recevoir une balle tirée avant que cette dernière ne traverse toute la boîte.
