Definitions

  • the present invention is directed to a method of measuring, evaluating and regulating the state, flow and function of bioelectrical energy in the body and mind, referred to as the terrain.
  • the bioelectrical inner environment of the human body is sometimes referred to as the "terrain".
  • the terrain includes the cells comprising the body, organs, and the interface between energy and body tissue.
  • the integrity of the terrain is the factor that determines why one person will get food poisoning and another will not - from the same infected meal. It is very difficult for a disease to live in a balanced terrain. Therefore, a person having a relatively balanced terrain will typically have good health and well-being.
  • the 'terrain is everything' and the pathogen is everything.
  • the terrain can be perfect, but pollute it with Ebola, methyl mercury or radiation and you are still in trouble. Remove the Ebola, methyl mercury or radiation without restoring the terrain, and you are still in trouble.
  • the biochemist Carrey Reams devised a method of analyzing saliva pH, as well as urine pH, urine conductivity, urine sugars/brix, urine NH4+, and urine NO3- to measure the electrical and ionization effects of foods, supplements and therapies on the bioelectrical properties of the human system.
  • Prior methods focused only on removal of a particular pathogen being ingested (or absorbed) in the terrain, but failed to address restoration of the terrain as well as ingestion. Specifically, saliva properties (aside from pH) were not considered. The distinction between an intervention that has exclusively beneficial effects and one that also produces harm is whether it simultaneously addresses the pathogen as well as the terrain.

  • the needs of a particular patient are determined. Treatment of the patient may be focused based on the specific determined needs as well as the patient's specific terrain, thereby optimizing utilization of the supplied needs.
  • the method of the present invention is applicable to the removal of obstacles (as discussed in detail below), the restoration of metabolic, mental, and emotional efficiency, and therapeutic interventions.
  • One skilled in the art is able to determine if the patient is able to utilize what they need, and if not, look for solutions to restore their ability to respond. As the patient is moved closer to Zero Need, regulation opens. Zero Need indicates that all properties of a person's urine and saliva are normal. Arriving at Zero Need does not indicate that the person is 'cured'. It means that the terrain is again functional and no longer a host for disease.
  • the patient is maintained at Zero Need for a period of time sufficient to restore 'self-regulation' to the patient, which allows the Inner Healer to function once more. This is an extremely powerful place within which interventions are much more effective and occasionally unnecessary. The process of self- regulation is many times a prerequisite for the successful treatment of many conditions.
  • the present invention takes into account our increasing toxicological challenges, and allows the study and evaluation of multiple terrain reactions rather than isolated states. In this way, a valuable and timely clinical method of understanding and fulfilling patient needs is provided.
  • This approach of the present invention allows equal importance to the terrain and the pathogen, providing an objective evaluation of a patient's needs while determining the effectiveness of any interventions. Further, a method of supporting the terrain if and when a patient requires an intervention is provided that is safe and optimal for the patient.
  • the system and method of the present invention does not diagnose or treat disease; instead it evaluates and enhances the structure and function of the terrain with Real-Time Functional Medicine.
  • the system and method of the present invention is based on the relationships and needs of anions vs. cations, positive ions vs. negative ions, and alkalinity vs. acidity in the terrain. These relationships may be calculated from measurements taken from samples of saliva and urine from a patient. Specifically, the following properties of a saliva sample may be determined using conventional techniques known in the art: pH (acidity or alkalinity), mS (conductivity), Brix (sugar content), NO3 (nitrate), and NO4 (ammonium). Likewise, the same properties of a urine sample may be determined using conventional techniques known in the art.
  • the resulting values for the relationships define a collection of information about the patient's terrain and needs. This collection of information is defined herein as a "zone". Treatment may then be assessed and provided in light of the patient's deviation away from "normal relationship values". In addition, the impact of particular foods, medicine or therapy on each of the values may be determined based on the particular zone in which the patient's relationship values fall.
  • Appropriate treatments may then be selected which cancel out any negative vectors, thereby restoring the terrain to normal metabolism. Once that balance is achieved (regulation is opened), the inner healer comes back to work and the person can again respond to therapy.

  • the urine pH tells us if the acids of normal metabolism and other toxins are able to get out of the body, therefore it needs to stay on the acid side. If the urine is too alkaline and the salts value is too low, you will see weakness in the liver and disturbances in the Phase 1 & 2 liver detoxification pathways.
  • the needs are cationic and negative. Therefore the effect of raising the salts value is to provide a positive and anionic reaction.
  • the needs are now anionic and positive, therefore the effect of lowering the salts value is to provide the opposite, a cationic and negative reaction.
  • Normal sugars is a Brix of 4. If the sugar value is below normal one could assume that the adrenals were weak, or the pancreas was over stimulated, or that there might be increased insulin sensitivity or, there could be something causing stress on the adrenals, like a scar or tooth problem on the associated meridian, or acid irritation from excess protein consumption. If the sugar value is too high one might think that the pancreas was under producing insulin, or that the pH surrounding the pancreas was too acidic, or that there might be an adhesion affecting its performance, a nutritional deficiency or a combination of the above. So you do a lab test and discover that they are chromium deficient. You give them chromium and they may or may not be able to utilize it. However, if you restore the terrain, the sugars will return to normal and they will be able to get all the chromium they need from their food.

  • This transformative ability is dependant on the integrity of the electrodynamic field that maintains the organization of the system, an imbalance in which can be observed as abnormalities in the proportional relationship of the normal values. This is why exposure to certain powerful electromagnetic fields and frequencies, radiation, microwaves, geopathic stress, and battery effects and their fields in human chemistry all cause a scientifically proven shut down of the immune system and various forms of disease. It is the electromagnetic impact of the toxin on this electrodynamic field that concerns us.

  • various obstacles specific to his or her quadrant should be avoided, as set forth in Table H
  • plotting the data on a terrain graph helps to identify the obstacles to be avoided.
  • the patient should not ingest foods that will negate, or hamper, the benefits or the treatment provided in the primary strategy.
  • particular foods are beneficial and other foods should be avoided. Such foods are set forth, by zone, in Appendix II. Thus, adherence to beneficial foods, and avoidance of deleterious foods, helps to ensure that the patient receives the maximal benefit of the primary strategy.
