Abstract

The invention can be used for space engineering in the form of stationary ion engines and for vacuum-plasma technologies. The inventive method for producing propulsive power in an ion engine by generating an oriented accelerated ion beam is characterised in that the thus generated ions are ejected from a plasma formation area by means of a positive volume static charge produced by an escape of electrons from said plasma formation area along the force lines of a magnetic field which is formed by a magnetic system. The inventive ion engine consists of a microwave oscillator (1), an open low-Q resonator (2), a reactor (3), a magnetic system consisting of a top annular magnet (4) and lower annular magnet (5) which are closed by means of a magnetic circuit, and a gas supply system.
