Description

'FIXED AND VARIABLE CODE RADIO SYSTEM "
*****
Field of the Invention
This invention concerns a radio system for the remote control of automated equipment in general, such as closing of accesses, lighting systems, irrigation systems, alarm systems and like.
State of the Art
For remote control of automated equipment in general, control systems based on portable radio frequency transmitters
(commonly called remote controllers) and permanent radio receiver devices located in the area where the controlled system is located, are known and already widely used.
In order to carry out remote control, a signal is sent by a remote control to a radio receiver, which is able to recognise said signal. After correctly interpreting the signal, the radio receiver enables the implementation of the operation envisaged.
In order to ensure the piloting of a radio receiver only by a dedicated remote control, a unique coded system integrated in the transmission is used even if it may vary in complexity and be fixed or variable (rolling). In fact, according the state of the art, a remote control is usually set to function with one fixed code or with one variable code. Consequently a radio receiver must be programmed so as to respond only its respective remote control. This obviously means that a manufacturer/ installer of remote controlled, automated equipment must be able to have available and/ or have in store two types of remote control, and relative radio receivers, depending on the coding technique chosen to transmit between one and the other, (fixed or variable code).
The use of remote controls and corresponding radio receivers, communicating using a single coded system, in particular if the latter is static, has, however, drawbacks both as regards to normal use and from the point of view of safety. In fact, a control of this type can be subject to interference from other remote controls present in the range of action of the receiver equipment, and to easy, unlawful duplication. Objects and Summary of the Invention Starting from this preamble, one of the objects of this invention is to provide an innovative and reliable radio controlled system, comprising at least one dual purpose remote control capable of dialoguing with a radio receiver able to selectively use the coded signals coming from the remote control. In other words, a single remote control can be made available for two answer modes on the part of the receiver, to the advantage that a single device compatible with several operating modes and more difficult if not impossible to duplicate can be produced/ or stored in the warehouse. A further object of this invention is to make each individual remote control, univocal and identifiable also within a single system.
These objects are achieved, according to the invention, by a remote control system which comprises at least one radio frequency transmitter with one or more control buttons and a radio receiver device, where the radio frequency transmitter is able to simultaneously transmit at least one fixed code and one variable code and the radio receiver is set to receive and recognise selectively the former, the latter or all the coded systems sent by said transmitter so as to activate the automated equipment which is required to be controlled, once the radio receiver has recognised the enabling code or codes. The radio receiver will ignore the other codes present in the transmission. Brief Description of the Drawings
More details of the invention will become more evident in the course of the following description made in reference to the indicative but not limitative drawing enclosed, in which the only figure shows block diagram of the proposed radio transmission system.
Detailed Description of the Invention
This drawing illustrates a number of radio or remote control transmitters (11) which may be mono- or multi-channel, and a radio receiver device (12) also mono- or multi-channel and designed to interact with said remote controls. Each remote control (11) is usually equipped with one or more buttons to activate transmission towards the radio receiver devices (12), using a radio signal at a given frequency (for example 433,92 MHz). The remote control (11) is preset to transmit a fixed code and a variable code (rolling code), without excluding the possibility of a third fixed code associated with the button.
On the other hand, the radio receiver device (12) is preset to receive the coded signals sent by one or more of the remote controls (11) set as stated above. However, the radio receiver device is set to decode, selectively, one or the other of the coded systems transmitted.
This means that the remote control always transmits one, two or more codes, and the radio receiver can discriminate the part of the coded transmission that is required to operate the controlled equipment.

Claims

1. Radio control system for automated equipment, comprising at least a radio frequency transmitter with one or more control buttons and at least one radio receiver device, characterised by the fact that the transmitter is enabled to transmit a simultaneous transmission of at least one fixed code and one variable code system, and that the radio receiver is set to receive and selectively recognise the former, the latter or all the coded systems arriving from said radio frequency transmitter to activate the equipment required to be controlled, once the radio receiver has recognised the authorised code or codes.
2. The remote control system according to claim 1, in which the transmitter always transmits a fixed code system and a variable closed system, whereas the radio receiver is set to receive and recognise only the former or the latter or both said coded systems.
