Abstract

La présente invention concerne des méthodes et des instruments non invasifs d'optique, permettant de détecter la présence ou de mesurer la concentration d'un grand nombre de substances à analyser, telles que le glucose, dans le tissu d'un sujet. Les spectres de rayonnement dans l'infrarouge moyen émis par le corps du sujet sont modifiés en fonction de la présence, de l'absence ou de la concentration de la substance à analyser dans le tissu du sujet. Dans un aspect de la présente invention, l'instrument balaye la surface du corps du sujet, tel que la peau ou l'oeil, tout orifice, conduit ou cavité, tel que la bouche, l'oreille ou le nez, avec une lumière dans l'infrarouge moyen, et détermine la présence, l'absence ou la concentration de la substance à analyser sur la base de la signature distincte du rayonnement dans l'infrarouge moyen de la substance à analyser renvoyé par réflexion vers l'instrument. Dans un autre aspect de l'invention, un instrument mesure le niveau du rayonnement dans l'infrarouge moyen à partir d'une surface du corps du sujet, y compris, sans en exclure d'autres, le rayonnement dans l'infrarouge moyen émis depuis une surface du corps, telle que la peau ou l'oeil, tout orifice, conduit ou cavité, tel que la bouche, l'oreille ou le nez, et détermine la présence, l'absence ou la concentration de la substance à analyser sur la base de la signature distincte du rayonnement dans l'infrarouge moyen de la substance à analyser. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, la présente invention concerne des méthodes non invasives permettant de détecter la présence ou de mesurer la concentration d'un grand nombre de substances à analyser, telles que le glucose, dans la conjonctive d'un sujet. Les spectres du rayonnement dans l'infrarouge moyen émis ou renvoyés par réflexion par la conjonctive du sujet sont modifiés en fonction de la présence, de l'absence ou de la concentration de la substance à analyser dans la conjonctive du sujet. Dans un aspect de l'invention, la conjonctive de l'oeil du patient est utilisée comme une source d'un signal optique pour déterminer la présence, l'absence ou la concentration d'une substance à analyser sur la base des caractéristiques spectrales distinctes de la substance à analyser, détectées par un instrument capable de détecter le signal optique. Les mesures réalisées par l'instrument de la présente invention, sur la conjonctive ou toute autre partie du corps, ne nécessitent pas un contact direct de l'instrument avec une surface d'un corps du sujet.
