Abstract

Java applications are protected before they are delivered in response to a request (72). Encryptable data within the Java application is identified (86). Encryptable data may be, for example, strings or numbers, which can be modified without the Java class being corrupted and becoming unable to execute. Encryptable data is encrypted (96) and re-inserted (97) to replace the original encryptable data. Encryption routines may be taken from a library. Execution of the Java class, including the encrypted data, requires a decryption key which is not made available until appropriate security checks have been completed.
