Abstract

A gearbox for a centrifuge, such as a decanter centrifuge, comprising rotatable bowl (1) connected to a housing (31) of the gearbox drivable at a first speed by a first external driving means (11) and a helical conveyer (2) coaxially arranged for rotating therein at a second rotational speed, wherein the gearbox comprises a compound planet epicyclic gear train, and compound planet wheels (29) of the epicyclic gear train are radially supported by one or more rings (36) to counteract the centrifugal forces acting on them. The invention also includes a centrifuge provided with such a gearbox.
