Definitions
- the invention relates to a needle for a medical syringe with a needle connection at one end for communicating insertion of the needle onto a conical attachment of the syringe.
- Such protective devices are known for example from DE 196 00 058 A1; U.S. Patent 5,067,946; U.S. Patent 5,167,640; U.S. Patent 5,092,461; U.S. Patent 4,946,447; U.S. Patent 6,156.01 1; EP 0 288 879 B1 and EP 0 331 452 B1.
- EP 0 360 313 B1 describes a protective cap which can be plugged onto a syringe head and is removed shortly before the syringe is used.
- the protective cap can be clipped on.
- a cannula insertion device is known from EP 0 290 176 B1, in which the needle can be withdrawn into a protective tube concentrically surrounding and guiding the needle for safety reasons.
- EP 0 555 974 B1 also describes a needle safety device with a needle guard axially displaceably arranged on the syringe cylinder, in which a safety indicator is additionally provided which indicates a locked state of the needle safety device.
- EP 0 459 954 B1 and EP 0 567 321 B1 disclose catheters with a needle protection device in which a cylindrical needle protection has a guide that fits into the guide device of a needle housing. When the needle is withdrawn from a vein after the catheter is installed, the needle and the needle guard are withdrawn from the catheter assembly.
- EP 0 702 973 B1 also discloses a pivotable needle protection device which is attached to the needle connection and can be pivoted from a position blocking access to the needle into a position releasing the needle.
- a similar needle protection device is also described in EP 0 408 628 B1, a needle protection cap being angled away from the syringe axis is.
- the needle also has an angled needle connection, so that the needle can be pivoted away from the needle protection device by rotating the needle connection.
- the object of the invention is to provide an improved needle for a medical syringe which is inexpensive and which, independent of the syringe plunger, has a needle protection device which can be used for almost any type of needle and which also provides protection for needles removed from a syringe.
- the needle connection has a guide element for slidably supporting the needle protective tube, the needle protective tube enclosing the needle and completely covering the needle in an advanced protective position and in a retracted operating position on the side of the syringe is led away to release the needle.
- the sliding guidance of a needle protection tube past the needle connection on the side of the syringe to release the needle has the advantage that the syringe can be used without being impaired by the needle protection tube.
- the needle and the needle protection tube can be removed from the syringe and disposed of after use of the syringe.
- the guide element is preferably integrated into the needle connection in such a way that it has a curved course which opens into the needle and is tubular.
- the guide element is preferably a guide sleeve that can be plugged onto conventional needle connections a rib formed on the outer circumference of the guide sleeve.
- the rib has a bulge on the edge opposite the guide sleeve.
- the needle guard tube can thus be guided through the bead in that a guide groove in the needle guard tube at least partially surrounds the bead.
- the guide element integrated in the needle connection or the bead of the push-on guide sleeve preferably describes a curved course with a greater distance from the needle connection in the area of the needle connection than in the area of the needle connection adjacent to the needle.
- the curved shape means that when the needle protection tube is pulled back, it is guided past the syringe.
- the needle protection tube has a corresponding curved area which sits in the protective position on the needle connection or the guide element. Furthermore, a straight area of the needle protection tube should be provided, which encloses the needle in the protective position. Overall, the needle protection tube should be sufficiently elastic that it can adapt to it when sliding along the guide element.
- a particularly simple and inexpensive construction of the needle protection tube for the second embodiment provides an oval cross section with opposite guide ribs extending in the longitudinal direction, which form a channel.
- the guide ribs and the one below The guide rib lying channel is designed for guidance on the guide element of the needle connector.
- the needle protection tube has a longitudinal slot in the upper region adjoining the needle and the peripheral region is closed at the front and rear ends of the needle protection tube.
- the closed peripheral wall in the rear area of the needle protection tube causes the needle protection tube to abut the guide element or the needle in the protective position and the needle and the needle protection tube can thus be easily removed from the syringe by pulling on the needle protection tube. This eliminates the risk of injury from the needle and the needle remains protected even when it is removed from the syringe.
- the slot in the middle section of the needle protection tube also enables the needle protection tube to be withdrawn past the syringe at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the needle.
- the closed peripheral wall in the front area of the needle protection tube ensures that the needle protection tube is not pulled off completely.
- FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of a needle for a medical syringe with a needle connection with a guide element for a needle protection tube;
- Figure 2 is a perspective view of a needle protection tube for the needle of Figure 1;
- FIG. 3 shows a perspective half-sectional view of the needle from FIG. 1 with the needle protective tube pushed on in the protective position;
- Figure 4 is a side view of the needle of Figure 1;
- Figure 5 is a perspective view of the needle of Figure 1 with the needle protection tube partially pushed over the needle;
- Figures 6a and 6b - a perspective view of a second embodiment of a needle for a medical syringe and a guide sleeve for plugging onto a needle protection tube;
- FIG. 7 shows a perspective illustration of the guide sleeve from FIG. 6 which has been pushed onto the needle
- FIG. 8 shows a sectional view of the needle protection tube for plugging onto the guide sleeve from FIG. 7;
- FIG. 9 shows a perspective illustration of the needle protection tube from FIG. 8.
- FIG. 1 shows a needle 1 for a medical syringe, which is designed in a known manner as a hollow tube extending in a longitudinal direction with a beveled insertion end.
- a needle connection 2 is provided with a bore for plugging onto the conical end of a syringe.
- the needle connection 2 is provided integrally with a guide element 3 which has a curved course which opens into the needle 1 and is tubular.
- FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of a needle protection tube 4 for plugging onto the guide element 3 with a first tubular straight region 5 and a second curved region 6 adjoining it.
- the needle protection tube 4 has a longitudinal slot 7 at the upper area adjoining the needle 1.
- the peripheral area at the front and rear ends of the needle protection tube 4 is closed, however.
- FIG. 3 shows a perspective sectional view of the needle 1 with the needle protection tube 4 attached to it. It is clear that the needle protection tube 4 is slidably seated on the guide element 3.
- the guide element 3 is integrally formed with a web on the needle connection 2, the longitudinal slot 7 laterally enclosing the web. Characterized in that the peripheral region at the rear end of the needle protection tube 4 is closed, the needle 1 together with the needle protection tube 4 can be withdrawn from the syringe and disposed of in the protective position shown without any risk of injury.
- the needle protection tube 4 is pushed back towards the needle connection 2, the needle protection tube 4 moving past the syringe due to the curved shape of the guide element 3.
- the needle protection device is thus independent of the design of the syringe, in particular its diameter, and does not interfere with the use of the syringe.
- FIG. 4 shows the needle 1 from FIG. 1 with the conical needle hub 2 and the curved guide element 3 integrally molded thereon.
- the needle protection tube 4 is guided over the needle 1 in such a way that the longitudinal slot 7 opens into the web of the guide element 3 and is slidably guided through it in the longitudinal direction of the needle 1.
- FIG. 6a shows another embodiment of a guide element 3, which can be attached as a guide sleeve to a standard needle connection 2 of a needle 1 for a medical syringe shown in FIG. 6b.
- the guide element 3 has a rib 8 formed on the outer circumference of the guide sleeve with a bead on its curved outer edge. The width of the rib 8 increases from the side adjoining the needle 1 to the end of the guide element 3 adjoining the syringe.
- FIG. 7 shows a corresponding perspective detailed view of the guide element 3, which is designed as a guide sleeve and is plugged onto a standard needle connection 2.
- the rib 8 provided for guiding the needle protection tube 4 with the bead is clearly visible.
- FIG. 8 shows a suitable needle protection tube 4, on which the guide element 3 from FIGS. 6 and 7 can be attached. It has an oval cross section with guide ribs 10 extending in the longitudinal direction.
- One half of a cut-open needle protection tube 4 is sketched in FIG.
- a corresponding guide rib 10 is likewise provided on the other half of the needle protection tube 4 directly opposite to the guide rib 10 shown.
- a channel 1 1 is formed by the guide ribs 10 below the guide rib 10, in which the bead of the rib 8 is guided.
