Abstract

A method of and apparatus for controlling access to resources in a media editing system by at least one user using at least one workstation is described. The system comprises a plurality of resources, each resource having an associated resource group, a plurality of users, each user having an associated user group and a plurality of workstations, each workstation having at least one associated workstation group. Attributes are allocated to the resource groups, the user groups and the workstation groups. A request for permission to access at least one resource are received from a user using a workstation at a specified time and an access permission to the at least one resource is determined for the user at the workstation based on the attributes allocated to the user group of the user, the resource group of the resource and the workstation group of the workstation.
