Abstract

A low profile power connector comprises an insulative housing having front and rear faces which respectively define a jack cavity and a hole base communicating with the jack. The hole base including an insertion limiting portion having a through hole. Opposed internal sidewalls of the hole base respectively defining a left embedding slot and a right embedding slot, and an internal bottom wall of the hole base defining a bottom embedding slot. A first terminal is inserted into the hole base, and is inserted until it contacts the insertion limiting portion. A conductive piece is disposed in the right embedding slot of the hole base, and electrically engages the first terminal. A second terminal for grounding is disposed in the left embedding slot of the hole base. A third terminal for controlling is disposed in the bottom embedding slot of the hole base.

1. A low profile power connector (4), comprising: an insulative housing (40) having front (401) and rear (402) faces, the front and rear faces respectively including a jack cavity (403) and a hole base (404) coin unicating with the j ck cavity, the hole base including an insertion limiting portion (45) having a through hole (451), opposed internal sidewalls of he hole base define a left embedding slot (46) and a right embedding slot (47), and an internal bottom wall of he hole base defines a bottom embedding slot (48), a conductive piece (44) having a soldering portion (443), a base portion (441) and a conductive portion (442) formed integrally, the conductive portion including a though hole (4421), the base portion being disposed in the right embedding slot (47) ofthe hole base (404); a first terminal (41) having a mating portion (411), a contacting portion (412), and a projecting collar (413) integrally foπned, the contacting portion (412) being inserted into the through, hole (451) of the insertion limiting portion (45) and the mating portion (411) being inserted into the through hole (4421) of he conductive portion (442) respectively; a second terminal (42), separate from the first terminal, having a soldering portion (424), a base section (421), a bending section (422) and a spring contacting portion (423) formed integrally, the base section (421) being disposed in the left embedding slot (46) of he hole base; and a third terminal (43), separate from the first and second terminals, having a soldering portion (433), a base portion (431), and a spring contacting portion (432) formed integrally, the base portion (431) being disposed in the bottom embedding slot (48) ofthe hole base (404).
2. The low profile power connector of claim 1, wherein the base portion (441) of the conductive piece (44) is connected to the conductive portion (442) by way of a first bent portion and the soldering portion is connected to the base by way of a second bent portion.
3. The low profile power connector of claim 1 , wherein the proj ecting collar (413) ofthe first terminal (41) is clamped between the conductive portion (442) and the insertion limiting portion (45).

The low profile power connector of claim 1 , wherein one end of the base (421) of he second terminal (42) is connected to the spring arm (423) by way of abent portion and another end of he base is connected to the soldering portion (424) by way of a bent portion, the spring terminal arm (423) extending to a predetermined position on a left side of he hole base (404).

The low profile power connector of claim 1 , wherein the bas e portion (431 ) of the third terminal (43) is connected between the spring terminal arm (432) and the soldering portion (433) thereof, the soldering portion formed from a bend of a side edge of the base portion (431), and the spring terminal aπn extending to a predetermined position on a bottom side ofthe hole base (404).
6. The low profile power connector of claim 1 , wherein side edges ofthe base sections (421) of he second terminal (42), the third terminal (43), and the conductive piece (44) further have a plurality of interference projections which mechanically engage walls of a respective embedding slot.

A low profile power connector (4), comprising: an insula ive housing (40) having front (401) and rear (402) faces, the front and rear faces respectively defining a jack cavity (403) and a hole base (404) communicating with the jack cavity, the hole base having an insertion limiting portion (45) with a through hole (451), opposed internal sidewalls o he hole base respectively defining a left embedding slot (46) and a right embedding slot (47), and an internal bottom wall ofthe hole base defining a bottom embedding slot (48); a first terminal (41) inserted into the hole base (404) until a projecting collar (4 3) on the first terminal engages the insertion limiting portion (415); a conductive piece (44) disposed in the right embedding slot (47) ofthe hole base (404), and electrically engaging the first terminal (41); a second terminal (42), separate from the first terminal, for grounding, disposed in the left embedding slot (46) ofthe hole base (404); and a third terminal (43), separate from the first and second teπmϊnals, for controlling, wherein the third terminal is disposed in the bottom embedding slot (48) of the hole base (404).
