Abstract

A Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC) device which enables passive alignment of optical axes by directly arranging optical fibers on a substrate where a PLC is formed is disclosed. In the PLC device in which a PLC is formed on a substrate, optical fiber guide grooves are formed in the substrate so that optical fibers are respectively arranged in optical axis alignment with input and output ports of the PLC, and the optical fiber guide grooves are respectively extended from both ends of the PLC to both ends of the substrate.
