Description
MOVABLE STONE CUTTING MACHINE
Technical Field
The present invention relates, in general, to movable stone cutting machines and, more particularly, to a movable stone cutting machine which is constructed such that a rail plate is removably mounted on a working table to prevent a cutting unit from moving vertically on the working table and from being removed from the working table, and guide grooves are provided on the cutting unit so that the cutting unit slidably moves along the rail plate, thus allowing the cutting unit to move linearly along the rail plate during the stone cutting operation and thereby allowing the stone to be cut straight and accurately, therefore increasing workability and safety.
Background Art
As a conventional stone cutting machine, a grinder has been widely used. Such a conventional stone cutting machine is operated as follows. First, a worker draws a line on stone to be cut. Next, the worker cuts the stone along the drawn line while aligning a saw blade of the stone cutting machine with the drawn line. Thus, the conventional stone cutting machine is problematic in that a difference may occur between a desired cutting position and
an actual cut position, and a worker may be injured by the saw blade.
Further, conventional stone cutting machines are not movable but fixed on designated places and require large installation space, thus it is very inconvenient to use.
Disclosure of the Invention
Accordingly, the present invention has been made keeping in mind the above problems occurring in the prior art, and an object of the present invention is to provide a movable stone cutting machine which is constructed such that a rail plate is removably mounted on a working table to prevent a cutting unit from moving vertically on the working table and from being removed from the working table, and guide grooves are provided on the cutting unit so that the cutting unit slidably moves along the rail plate, thus allowing the cutting unit to move linearly along the rail plate during the stone cutting operation and thereby allowing the stone to be cut straight and accurately, therefore increasing workability and safety. In order to accomplish the above object, the present invention provides a movable stone cutting machine, including a working table on which stone to be cut is placed, a plate support projection provided at each of opposite ends of the working table, a rail plate supported by each of the plate support projections, a hinge coupling
a predetermined portion of the rail plate to an associated plate support projection so that the rail plate rotates about the hinge, and a cutting unit. The rail plate includes a guide slot provided along a predetermined portion of the rail plate, a guide rail provided on each side of the guide slot to be upwardly projected, and a support wing provided on each of opposite edges of the rail plate to cover an upper portion of each of the guide rails . The cutting unit is supported by the support wings so that the cutting unit is not removed from the rail plate. The cutting unit includes a circular saw blade inserted into the guide slot of the rail plate to cut the stone placed on the working table, and a guide groove provided on a bottom of the cutting unit to engage with each of the guide rails of the rail plate so that the cutting unit linearly slides along the guide rails .
Brief Description of the Drawings
The above and other objects, features and other advantages of the present invention will be more clearly understood from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 is a front view of a movable stone cutting machine, according to an embodiment of the present invention; FIG. 2 is a side view of the movable stone cutting
machine of FIG . 1;
FIG. 3 is a plan view of a rail plate included in the movable stone cutting machine of FIG. 1;
FIG. 4 is a sectional view taken along the line A-A of FIG. 3; and
FIG. 5 is a view to show a cutting unit included in the movable stone cutting machine of FIG. 1.
Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
Reference should now be made to the drawings, in which the same reference numerals are used throughout the different drawings to designate the same or similar components .
The reference numeral 26 denotes a working table where a stone cutting operation is carried out using a cutting unit after stone is placed on the working table 26. Two plate support projections 2 are upwardly projected on opposite ends of the working table 26, respectively, so as to prevent a rail plate 20 from being removed from the working table 26. The reference numeral 20 denotes the rail plate which is seated on the plate support projections 2. As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, a guide slot 6 is formed along the rail plate 20 to allow a circular saw blade 14 of the cutting unit to pass through the rail plate 20. Two guide rails 24 are provided on opposite sides of the guide slot 6 so as to
guide linear movement of the cutting unit.
Further, two support wings 22 are provided at a predetermined portion of the rail plate 20 to support the cutting unit which moves linearly along the guide rail 24. In this case, each of the support wings 22 is upwardly projected from each of opposite edges of the rail plate 20, and then inwardly bent at an upper end of each of the support wings 22.
As shown in FIG. 1, the rail plate 20 is hinged to one of the plate support projections 2, in such a way as to rotate at a predetermined angle, by a hinge 4 which is provided at a predetermined portion of the plate support projection 2. Thus, the rail plate 20 can be opened from the upper surface of the working table 26 as shown by the dotted lines of FIG. 1. In such a state, stone to be cut is placed on the working table 26 or the cut stone is taken down from the working table 26.
FIG. 5 shows the cutting unit. A motor 16 is mounted on an upper portion of the cutting unit . Further, the circular saw blade 14 is provided at a lower portion of the cutting unit to be downwardly projected. The circular saw blade 14 cuts the stone while rotating at a high speed by drive power of the motor 16.
Further, guide grooves 12 are provided on a bottom of the cutting unit to engage with the guide rails 24 of the rail plate 20. A power connecting part 18 is provided at a handle of the cutting unit to supply electric power to the
cutting unit.
The operation and operational effects of the stone cutting machine according to the present invention are as follows . First, the rail plate 20 is placed on the plate support projections 2 which are upwardly projected from the opposite ends of the working table 26. Subsequently, the rail plate 20 is coupled with one of the plate support projections 2 by the hinge 4 which is provided at the plate support projection 2.
Thereafter, the rail plate 20 is opened from the upper surface of the working table 26, and stone to be cut is placed on the working table 26. Next, the rail plate 20 is rotated to be arranged in parallel to the working table 26.
In such a state, the cutting unit is installed at the rail plate 20. In this case, the guide grooves 12 provided on the bottom of the cutting unit engage with the guide rails 24 which are projected from the rail plate 20 while the circular saw blade 14 is inserted into the guide slot 6.
After the cutting unit is installed at the working table 26 as such, the cutting unit slides linearly along the guide rails 24. At this time, the circular saw blade 14 exposed outside the guide slot 6 cuts a portion of the stone which is placed below the guide slot 6.
Further, when the cutting unit slides along the guide
rails 24, the cutting unit is supported by the support wings 22 which are provided outside the guide rails 24 and are inwardly bent at the upper ends thereof toward a center of the rail plate 20, thus preventing the cutting unit from being removed from the rail plate 20 during the stone cutting operation.
According to the present invention, the cutting unit moves linearly along the guide rails 24 of the rail plate 20 while the stone is maintained at a desired position, thus allowing the stone to be accurately cut and preventing the cutting unit from being removed from the working table 26 during the stone cutting operation, thereby insuring a user's safety.
Industrial Applicability
As described above, the present invention provides a movable stone cutting machine which is constructed such that a rail plate is removably mounted on a working table to prevent a cutting unit from moving vertically on the working table and from being removed from the working table, and guide grooves are provided on the cutting unit so that the cutting unit slidably moves along the rail plate, thus allowing the cutting unit to move linearly along the rail plate during the stone cutting operation and thereby allowing the stone to be cut straight, therefore increasing workability and safety.
Although the preferred embodiment of the present invention has been disclosed for illustrative purposes, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions and substitutions are possible, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as disclosed in the accompanying claims .
