Best Mode
[13] The portable compact disk player according to a preferred errbodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[14] Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating a portable compact disk player according to the present invention. The disk player according to the present invention is provided with a plate shaped body 1 having a certain thickness, and a pair of cover merrbers 3 and 5 that have inner side surfaces covering both side surfaces of the body 1 and are hinged to the body 1 for thereby opening and closing both side surfaces of the body 1.
[15] A tray 9 rotated by a motor 7 is provided at both side surfaces of the body 1. At this time, the motor 7 adapted to drive the tray 9 is provided by one or two. In the case that the tray 9 of both sides is driven at the same time, one motor 7 may be used, and in the case that the tray 9 is driven separately, the motor 7 may be connected with each tray 9 based on a certain technique.
[16] An optical pickup merrber 13 is provided in the interior of the body 1 for reading a disk 11 mounted in the tray 9. The optical pickup merrber 13 is rotatably installed in a support frame 15 (described layer) that is moved forwardly or backwardly by a moving unit capable of moving in the radius direction of the disk 11.
[17] The optical pickup merrber 13 is adapted to output a laser light to a recording pit of the disk 11 and to convert light reflected from the recording pit into an electrical signal for thereby transferring to a signal processing unit. [18] The optical pickup merrber 13 includes a hologram device (not shown) having a laser diode (not shown) for outputting a laser light and a photo diode for converting a reflection light into an electrical signal, and an objective lens 17 for condensing the laser light from the laser diode of the hologram device and exactly focusing on the recording pit of the disk 11.
[19] Since the technical construction of the optical pickup merrber 13 is known, the detailed description of the same is omitted.
[20] As shown in Figure 2, the transfer unit includes a transfer screw 21 capable of transferring the optical pick merrber 13 in the radius direction of the disk 11 so that the optical pickup merrber 13 randomly accesses the disk 11, and a linear motor (not shown) capable of rotating the transfer screw 21. Here, the optical pickup merrber 13 is guided by a guide rod 23 based on the rotation direction of the transfer screw and forwardly or backwardly moves in the axial direction.
[21] Figure 2 is a perspective view illustrating a rotation unit of a portable compact disk player according to an errbodiment of the present invention.
[22] Here, the rotation unit is connected with one side of the optical pickup merrber 13 and is a step motor 25 capable of rotating the optical pickup merrber 13 by 180 ° in accordance with an external signal. Here, the input of an external signal is implemented by first and second switches 27 and 29 installed in the outer side of the cover merrber 3 of Figure 1. For example, as shown in Figure 2, the objective lens 17 is directed to facing one side surface of the body 1 by operating the first switch 27. In this state, when the second switch 29 is operated, the step motor 25 is rotated by 180 ° , and the objective lens 17 of the optical pickup merrber 13 is directed to facing the opposite side surface of the body 1.
[23] Figure 3 is a perspective view illustrating a rotation unit of a portable compact disk player according another errbodiment of the present invention.
[24] As shown therein, the rotation unit according to the present invention includes first and second magnet merrbers 31 and 33 of different magnetic poles attached to both sides of the optical pickup merrber 13, and first and second coils 35 and 37 installed near the magnet merrbers 31 and 33 at both sides of the optical pickup merrber 13.
[25] When the magnetic poles are changed based on the direction of the current flowing in the first and second coils 35 and 37, the optical pickup merrber 13 is rotated by 180 0 . The operation that the direction of the current is changed may be achieved by the first and second switches 27 and 29 installed in an outer lateral surface of the cover merrber 3 of Figure 1. [26] As shown in Figure 3, the body 1 of the objective lens 17 is directed to facing one side of the body 1. Here, the first magnet merrber 31 has the N magnetic pole, and the second magnet merrber 33 has the S magnetic pole. In the case that the first coil 35 has the S magnetic pole, and the second coil 37 has the N magnetic pole, the first and second magnet merrbers 31 and 33 of the optical pickup merrber 13 are positioned at the portions pulled by the magnetic poles of the first and second coils 35 and 37. In this state, when the second switch 29 is operated, the first coil 35 is changed to the N magnetic pole, and the second coil 37 is changed to the S magnetic coil. The optical pickup merrber 13 and the first and second magnet merrbers 31 and 33 have the magnetic poles changed in the direction pulled by the magnetic poles. Therefore, the objective lens 17 of the optical pickup merrber 13 is rotated in the direction of the opposite lateral surface.
[27] In the preferred errbodiments of the present invention, the operation of the rotation unit is achieved by the first and second switches 27 and 29. However, in the present invention, the above construction is not limited. Namely, the operation of the rotation merrber may be controlled by one switch. For example, one switch (not shown) may be installed on an outer surface of the cover merrber 3. When the switch is pushed one time, the reproduction of the disk 11 mounted in one side surface of the body 1 is p erformed. In addition, when it is pushed once more, the reproduction of the disk mounted in the other side surface of the body 1 may be performed. The present invention is described in the preferred errbodiments of the present invention. In another preferred errbodiment of the present invention, the size, shape, material and alternations may be derived from the detailed descriptions of the present invention.
Industrial Applicability
[28] As described above, in the portable compact disk player according to the present invention, it is possible to mount two disks. In addition, it is possible to selectively reproduce the disk mounted by the rotation unit of the optical pickup merrber. In addition, the technical construction of the rotation merrber capable of selectively reproducing two disks may be simplified. The installation space is minimized, and the related cost may be decreased.
[29] As the present invention may be errbodied in several forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof, it should also be understood that the above-described examples are not limited by any of the details of the foregoing description, unless otherwise specified, but rather should be construed broadly within its spirit and scope as defined in the appended claims, and therefore all changes and modi- fications that fall within the meets and bounds of the claims, or equivalences of such meets and bounds are therefore intended to be errbraced by the appended claims.
