Abstract

The self adhesive cheque is a paper cheque form with a self adhesive strip (3), separated from the remainder of the cheque form by perforations (2). The adhesive strip (3) is backed with an adhesive covered by a paper film. The paper film can be peeled away from the self adhesive strip, enabling the cheque form to be stuck upon letters, invoices or any other such document that requires a cheque to be attached. The perforations enable the person receiving the cheque to detach it from the self adhesive strip for banking. The self adhesive strip remains stuck to the accompanying documentation, and may be used as a record of bank details or for other information.

Description

SELF ADHESIVE CHEQUE
DESCRIPTION :
1. The self adhesive cheque is a paper cheque form which can be stuck to paper documentation, to enable the cheque to be sent by mail securely attached to that documentation but without the use of pins or staples.
2. In the form of the invention suitable for use in a printed cheque book, the self adhesive cheque consists of the counterfoil (fig. 1 no.l) which is bound in the book in the usual manner, separated by perforations (fig 1 no. 2) from a self adhesive strip (fig. 1, no. 3). The self adhesive strip is coated on the reverse surface with a dry adhesive (fig. 2 no. 7) which enables the cheque, once it has been removed from the cheque book, to be stuck to another surface. The adhesive is protected, prior to use, by a strip of paper (fig. 2 no. 6) waxed where it contacts the adhesive and matte on the reverse side. The self adhesive strip may carry printed cheque details (e.g. cheque no., BSB, name of payer, or financial institution consumer information) for the convenience of the payee.
3. The self adhesive strip is separated from the remainder of the cheque form (Fig. 1 no. 5) by a second set of perforations (fig 1 no. 4). The remainder of the cheque form meets all financial institution requirements for a cheque, and is identical to a normal cheque.
4. The self adhesive cheque can be detached from the counterfoil, and attached to the accompanying paper documentation (such as invoice, letter etc.), without the use of pins or staples. Once the documentation is received by the payee, the cheque can be detached at the second perforation for banking. The self adhesive strip remains attached to the documentation, and can be used as a record if required.
5. In the alternative form of the invention as a self adhesive cheque form for use in computer printers, the invention is a paper cheque form consisting of two sections separated by perforations (fig 3 no. 2). The first section (fig 3 no. 1) corresponds to the "self adhesive strip" described above (paragraph 2) and similarly has an adhesive strip on its reverse side (fig 4 no. 3, covered until use by waxed paper (fig 4 no. 4). The remainder of the cheque form (fig 3 no. 5) meets all financial institution requirements for a cheque, and is identical to a normal cheque.
6. The form of the invention for use in computer printers functions in an identical manner to the cheque book form of the invention (paragraphs 1 to 4). The cheque form can be attached to accompanying documentation. Once the documentation is received by the payee, the cheque can be detached at the perforation for banking. The self adhesive strip remains attached to the documentation, and can be used as a record if required.

Claims

The claims defining the invention are as follows: -
1. A paper cheque form with a self adhesive strip which will stick to the surface of a paper document or other such surface, so as to attach the cheque to that paper document or other surface until such time as it is detached;
2. A paper cheque form as claimed in claim 1 with the self adhesive strip separated from the cheque by perforations, enabling the cheque to be separated from the self adhesive strip along the line of the perforation by hand;
3. A paper cheque form as claimed in claim 1 comprising the cheque itself and a self adhesive strip, with the back of the self adhesive strip coated with a dry adhesive, so that it will adhere to any paper or similar surface.
4. A paper cheque form as claimed in claim 3, in which the dry adhesive is protected by a removable strip of waxed paper.
5. A paper cheque form substantially as herein before described with reference to figures 1 - 4 of the accompanying drawings.
